Hello friends!
Going to St Thomas for the first time and was wondering what was your favorite thing to do *with small children*!
We’re hoping for an easy, convenient, trip to the beach.
I saw Magen’s Bay pop up a lot, has anybody been there? Do it through Disney?
Any tips (small children friendly) are welcome! ☺️
Thanks!

We did a private tour with our 1.5 year old and 4 year old with stthomasadventures.com. Webb, the owner, were awesome and took us to a couple different beaches with snorkeling spots.

If you want something simpler/cheaper, I’d take a taxi to Magen’s Bay. A Disney excursion. Is not worth the cost for something like this.

We were on the Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy in June and did Magen's bay. It was a great time, about a 20-25 ride to/from the beach and the bay was great. It wasn't over crowded the day were were there. The water was calm and clear. It was a fun relaxing day. There is a small shop, bar, and place to get food (pizza, hot dogs, etc.) It all was good and reasonably priced.

A taxi from port will be cheaper than the Disney excursion, and lets you pick your arrival and return time.

I think it's a great place for small children. There is plenty of shallow water and there are a lot of waves. The beach is huge and beautiful. We took a taxi to Magens Bay and had a blast. It was easy peasy.

We did Trunk Bay on St. Johns with our kids 4 and 11. It was very easy taxi to downtown ferry, then taxi to TB, day at the beach, then taxi back to the ferry, and back to the port. It was really easy, and a beautiful day at the beach. The word lately is that the crowds are down due to the hurricanes last fall, and the local businesses could really use the help out.

I agree that Magen's Bay is a great spot for young kids. Great sand, great water and easy to get to and from. You will pay for the taxi and a entry fee for each person. There is a constantly staffed taxi stand there at the beach. Plenty of shade. There are tables and a small pavilion. The only down side are the restrooms that needed a remodel when we were there last. By Disney or on your own; a fun, relaxing day for all. Disney price includes a chair rental I believe but is still a few dollars more than if you do it solo.

The thing about going to St. John with young children, or anyone, is it is a much longer transit, and the ferries can be rough.

We'll be there in February and are leaning towards Coral World. Our son is an Octonauts nut so he's been more interested in seeing sea creatures (without snorkeling) than beaches.

Secret harbor beach is a tiny public beach on a resort property. You can’t use the resort’s beach chairs, but there are shady spots. The resort bar is right on the beach and there are restrooms. You can get a taxi right at the port to take you there. Very low key and not crowded. Lots of good snorkeling too!

We've been on three or four excursions that included some sort of water transportation, whether on our own or as part of the excursion itself (Rave catamaran, for example). The ferry over to St. John just seemed like any other excursion, and the views were nice. Our children have been doing excursions from age 4 up and always enjoyed the boat rides. It seems like the ride to stingray city at Cayman wad longer each way than the ferry to St John. But I know that it isn't everyone's cup of tea. I just l know that it was one of the funnest days ashore we've spent, and one that we all d erupts love to do again. and the beach there is one of the most beautiful, (not typical) Caribbean bead chess we've been to.
