St Maarten What would you do with ten year olds??

Hi,
What I need to know is if you would do the Butterfly farm of Lagoon Kayaking? Can a ten year old do the Kayaking? Better yet can Grandma, I have never done anything like this. Whats the farm like? How are the bugs, are we going to see creepy things? I'm trying so hard to do fun things for the Grandson have any suggestions???

My 11 year old son & I went on the 7 night Eastern cruise in January of this year. We took the Golden Eagle catamaran and had a BLAST! I don't like to snorkel, but I just got in the water and lazed around while my son snorkeled. The crew members were really entertaining and it was like a big party! We had alot of fun and can't wait to do it again!

I took my 7 and 9 year olds on the Golden Eagle catamaran trip and we all loved it. It was really fun (for all ages).

On our first 7-day cruise, DD Sarah was 10yo. Our family spent the morning at Great Bay Beach (nearest the ship). We went back to the ship for lunch, then the kids stayed on board while the adults went back to Phillipsburg for shopping.

On our most recent cruise, DD Sarah (now 12yo) accompanied me on the Golden Eagle Catamaran. About half of the people on the excursion were DIS board folks. We had a great time.

We are going in November with our 2 dd's 7 & 9, and they both wanted to do the Golden Eagle. This seems like the best excursion, because they both like to snorkel, and it still leaves time to shop in the afternoon.

Does the ship dock in Phillipsburg? If so, is the shopping district right there by the ship? Is it walking distance?

The ship docks at the edge of Great Bay at Philipsburg. Although you could walk from the ship to the shopping district in 10-15 minutes, most folks find it worthwhile to use the water taxi between the ship pier and downtown. $5/pp for unlimited trips through 6pm. Kids under a certain age are free.
