St Johns Wort

[Horseshoes]

Since there are so many threads about antidepressants, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with St Johns wort.

Did it work for you?
Where there side effects?
Are there as many risks taking it as there is with prescription meds?

I took it twice - several weeks apart. I had horrible nightmares both times which is extremely rare for me. Never took it again.

The studies show it is fairly benign and not very effective. However, it DOES interfere with birth control pills so if that is a factor beware!

I did take it for a while, but I don't think it was very effective. My depression is seasonal, and my light box is the best medicine for that!
