Have any of you ever used your points to go to the St. James Club in Antigua or DL in California? Am looking for info on both exchanges, however I am probably more interested in the SJC. It would be 2 adults and 2 kids...do they have 1 BR or are the rooms standard hotel rooms (studio). We have been to Antigua twice, but not this resort.

As for Cali, I have no knowledge of this park or resort at all. Have not really been interested in it until recently so any and all info on using points for here would be great!! Again, 2 adults and 2 kids.

Thanks in advance!!

When are you thinking of going ?

Disneyland is 50 in 2005 so there's lots happening from early May.

If we go outside a DVC resort we just bank the points and take a bigger vacation next time but it's all down to personal choice and costs.

We've been to Disneyland more times than I can count, and Disney's CA Adventure twice since it opened. We love both. CA Adventure has taken a lot of flak - but my 2 DS's, DH and I really enjoy ourselves there. It is ENORMOUSLY different than WDW. Not spread out at all - you can walk in 2 minutes from one park entrance to the next, and also walk right to DTD. A lot of the attractions that are spread out over the 4 parks in WDW are in just the 2 CA parks, and park hopping back and forth during the day is a peice of cake - just walk next door!
The resorts there are smaller (lack of devolpment space). If you would like more the feel of a WDW Deluxe, The Grand Californian is absolutely gorgeous!!!!! The Disneyland Hotel is classic, very nice, great Peter Pan themed pool, character breakfast, etc. Paradise Pier Hotel is more of just a normal hotel - but I hear they just re-did the pool there - it sounds wonderful.
Some people don't like everything being so close - but between the monorail, trams, and short walks - you will never need your car! I've never been to Antigua, so I can't compare the vacations - but we adore DL. Have fun, and if you have any questions, let me know!

From what I can find, the timeshares are only hotel units and 2 BR and are no lockoff's. This is a dual use property with a number of unit sizes on the hotel side. Overall it sounds very good. Memory suggests that a DIS member has stayed there, maybe they will see the post.

Thanks for your thoughts. I just called MS and inquired about both. There is availability for the dates I want in DL. As for the St. James Club, I gave them a 2 month window, but they had nothing. I was told it is very difficult to get. :( Oh well. I guess I could expand my window and see what happens...or I could look at other places to go.

Thanks again !!

As a fellow lover of Antigua, I would keep trying. Just curious, when were you looking?

Kim- I gave them May-July 2005. These dates were purely based on school being out. However, I think I may broaden the dates to include when school is in session. Not really sure yet.

By the way, where do you stay when you go to Antigua?

We've stayed at Sandals (before my son came along). Oh those beaches!!! I was asking your dates because some day in the future I would be asking for the same thing. I was bummed to hear that it was hard to get, because I heard good things about that resort. Will they wait list you?

Kim
