I live in St. Augustine. There is a lot to do. We have the Alligator Farm, the Fort, St. George Street, the Lighthouse, Ride a trolley, Ride in a horse drawn carriage, Walk a Ghost Tour OR ride the Ghost Train or do a ghost tour in a hearse or a ghost tour on a sailboat. Um the beaches are nice. There is TONS of shopping A lot of cemeteries and history to read about.

I'd love to visit the Tolomoto Cemetery, though I heard it's fenced because of theft and vandalism throughout the years. They say it's the most haunted cemetery in the old city, along with a few others. I just wanna take night pics and catch "something"

I can't believe no one has mentioned Flagler College ('99 alum). It is a beautiful campus and you can walk around and in the rotunda of the old hotel/dorms. Make sure to look for Henry Falgler's face in the floor tiles just to the left as you walk in the main doors. Ponce hall is haunted...take it from a girl who lived on the third floor!!!
Check out the Haunted Tours for something fun to do at night. The local bar/clubs are great fun...gotta stop by a-1 Ale and St. Georges pub. Ripley's is a must!!! Stay down town in one of the hotels (we love comfort suites) and there is no need to worry about parking...all in walking distance. If you have kids check out the carousel and play ground by the library (north end) and the big playground down town by the parking garage. Don't forget the outlet malls by I-95!

I just book a couple nights at the Days Inn Historic (formally Holiday Inn Express before the new "Inn and Suites" built next door) Within walking distance. Few things I plan to visit:

1. Great Cross
2. Fort Castillo
3. Fort Matanzas
4. St. Augustine beach
5. Lighthouse
6. Wax museum
7. St. George St. and Tolomoto Cemetery
8. Old Jail
9. Some night walking (hopefully not too late) with a digicam just for "investigating".

Last I went was in Feb. and already did Ripley's so i'll scratch that off. Not too much of a museum fan but the Wax and Old Jail museum i've eyed on for a try.

We went a few years ago and had an enjoyable two days wandering around. The trolley ride was great and we also found a couple of good restaurants. Well worth a visit.

Check out the village on St George's St. I don't remember what it is called, but it is interesting. Take one of the Tram tours...there are 2. One tram includes the Jail and the other Ripley's. Many of the other sites are available on both. Walk the riverfront at night by the Bridge of Lions (still under construction???) it is beautiful.

Someone had commented on Banks/ATM. There a Bank of America (and I think another one) at the square with ATMs.

Never been, but there is the winery too!

I spent a week at Flagler for a conference in high school (ironically in '99), and while I didnt encounter anything odd, the place definitely felt haunted. Plus the look of the old building gives that feeling as well. I think the story goes that Flagler's wife tragically died in the building when it was their home?

Yea, I think that is the story I don't exactly remember, but I want to say there was something about a lover being involved too. Our door would open and close on its own...no draft or anything. We would say "Hi, Henry" or "Go away, Henry." and it would stop...go figure. And it wan't someone walking by because we were the last room at the end of the hall, and not our dormmates because at first we would constantly check thinking it was someone playing pranks. The loft/attic park is supposed to be locked, but the savy student can sneak quite far up there. It is beautiful and can/should be used.why isn't it??? BOO! I only lived in the dorms the first year (95-96) then moved to a a rental condo right on the beach (96-98), on the west side with friends as a nanny for my first sr. semester, and in IL for my internship (99)

Did you stay in the girls (no a/c) or boys (a/c) dorms?

Hey there! I'm still in Orlando, in fact I just stepped through the door from having a "wild" time at the Animal Kingdom
St.Augustine was cute and charming, though very touristy. In a funny kind of way, we almost felt like we were at Disneyworld.
We took a tram tour which was great and gave us a good overview of the old town, strolled through the streets, did some window shopping, ate pretty good food, went by the fort and lighthouse and toured the old jail ("Deputy" Guy White was amazing as he guided us through the jails history).
If you have a spare day (we are on a 3 week vacation so we had the time) I would recommend St. Augustine as a day trip.
We actually made a two day trip and drove first to St.Petersburg and went to the beach (kids even got into the water) and from there to St. Augustine (with an overnight stay in Gainsville on the way). Worked out great for us
