Okay, I've researched alot of old threads here and decided St. Augustine is the place to visit for one day after WDW. Besides, it's on our way home. I have a couple of questions I hope you can help with.

*How is the Holiday Inn? It's on the beach. I'm looking for something on the beach under $150 a night.
*Should we take the narrated train tour (redtrains) or is it better just to drive to these destinations? The package I want to get is $33 for adults and includes admission to bayfront golf, train museum, schoolhouse, fountain of youth and Spanish quarter. *IF we stopped at all of those places- how long would it take?

I visited St. Augustine about 16 years ago in HS with a friend. I really think the kids would like it.

Thanks in advance. :sunny:

We've stayed at the Holiday Inn on the beach, it was nice. Better was the Hampton Inn on the beach, also under $150 and included continential breakfast in the AM. Both are right on the beach.

First year we took the tram which had a "beach bus" that picked us up at the hotel and took us over the bridge to catch the tram. Last year we just drove into town ourselves and parked. You usually have to circle around a few times and walk a bit. You could spend days there and not see everything.

Place we've eaten and liked..in town at Pizza Alley, Scarlett O'Haras and the grill type place in the toy store near the bridge. We've also heard great things about the mexican place near the bridge. On the beach we've eaten at the Sunset Grille about 4 or 5 times and Mango Mangos. There are coupons for almost all restaurants in the little coupon books so look before you go.

Also, can't beat a custard cone from Rita's next to the pier near the Hampton Inn.
