that 7DS is actually more excited about going to Universal at Xmas (first time) than WDW (second). I *know* he (and his parents) will enjoy both, but after much video watching (hooray for the Travel Channel), map viewing, etc., he's really psyched about Universal. And I'm thrilled about staying at HRH and eating at Mythos on my bday! 48 days to go...

I almost walked through Disney's gates last time, but all that I really wanted to ride was the RnR Coaster. I didn't have much passion to ride much else.

Glad to hear that you and your family are trying Universal. Hope you all have a great time there.

BTW it's also nice that the Travel Channel programs are opening people's eyes to Universal. There's alot to do there as well as the whole International Drive area.

Same thing happened with me Barry, we must think alike.
I went to MGM by myself, rode RnR, ToT and left.

Too bad Eisner doesn't read this board. He's got a big ego, I saw him on tv once. He ignores any negative comments.

We quit going to WDW when IOA came along. I've already said this many times. Once the kids reach the age of about 8 and make the height requirement for the roller coasters, it's over for WDW.

I don't know if they can fix the problem, because the rides are spread out over 4 parks. People don't want to do all the walking and have to pay for 4 parks, when they can get all the rides in 1 place at IOA, plus thrilling roller coasters.

Have to say we love WDW, but IOA and US are the places the kids want to go back to. They are 10 and 11 and of course want rollercoasters. I want to go back because the HRH is such a great place with a terrific sized room. Disney cannot come close to room size. But on the other hand, I don't want WDW to become a roller coaster or thrill park. It has it's own ambience and it should stay that way.

I love having the ability to do both WDW and US because they are both so unique and different in their own rights. I am glad that US is finally getting the credit they deserve. Putting onsite hotels was a great way to show people what they have to offer.

I will always love Disney and don't want it to change, but next year it will be HRH, IOA and US for us. ( okay I must admit it, I will take a side trip a day or to to MK and MGM) sigh!!!!!

I used to think D meant Disney or Darling. Disney would seem appropriate on the DIS. Maybe we should have something like UH for Universal husband!

our trip this year will include US, IOA and maybe Busch Gardens in Tampa, as well as MGM and Epcot. Last year, it was WDW all the way.

I agree with minijeanie, cause having both US and WDW within driving distance, you can enjoy both "worlds". We are looking forward to all the coasters and new decor. Although I have already told DH that I will be looking for hidden mickeys everywhere.

Barry, believe it or not those abbreviations are originally military vernacular and the "D" stands for "Dependent". The internet community adopted those terms and the meaning changed.

oh my gosh, you all think like i do, I thought I was the only one. the disney parks have that great disney magic thing going on but the thrill rides are too spread out, you cant get enough at one time. But I just cant seem to get my fill of the islands of adventures thrill rides. universal learned theming from disney and did this park right. I will never not love the disney parks, my heart belongs there, I really love each and every one of them but IOA is where me and DS tend to frequent most often. He is 12 and a bigtime thrillseeker (yes!) so we gotta go for the adrenaline rush, it keeps you smiling.

I'm glad to read these posts saying that 8 and 9 year olds enjoy USE a lot. My son is 8 and does not like roller coasters but does enjoy simulator style rides. He's real interested in going to Universal Studios but not so much IOA because he thinks it all thrill rides. I think that we're just going to have to try both next year.
