SSR's draw

DH 37,DS 16,DS 4,Me 37 We have been coming to WDW at least once a year(many times two or three times)since the late 90's.Before that were trips with my family growing up.We now own at VWL and did an add on at Saratoga (IMHI) because my husband grew up in Saratoga Springs. We now live about 15 miles from there and it really is a very beautiful area.Since we also live so close to the Adirondacks I believe that is why we love thw VWL so much.Even though that is themed on the Pacific North West it has the "feel"f the Adirondack Mts. to us.That said we have enjoyed our stays at each resort(we have stayed at all the DVC resort on property). We are looking forward to our Nov/Dec trip to check out Saratoga.

Joe,

I don't think anyone can say that you are only a Curmudgeon in training anymore.;) You are now full fledged. ;)

I have a long way to go to even be in the same room as Waldorf and Stadtler...well, figuratively speaking. Its only about 1K miles for me to be with them literally at MuppetVision 3D. :)

My home resort is OKW but I wouldn't hesitate to stay or own at SSR because I LOVE DTD! I visit DTD every day of my stay. I just can't get enough of it! princess:

Just curious, because it sounds like the demographic for SSR is going to be a bit different than the others (e.g., more Disney veterans who have already done the Disney thing for years and aren't as interested in the parks being the focal point of their vacation, may have had kids who are now older and no longer in tow or as interested in WDW vacations).

I don't think that will necessarily be true because there will be many people who are buying into the whole DVC program. As mentioned, if they want to buy DVC from Disney, SSR is what they get. It may be true though that some additional people may be enticed into buying SSR. There is probably a base of long-time Disney Villa/DI folks who may want to return to their favorite area. While the spa is not my cup of tea, it may be a major factor if it's marketed to people who enjoy spa vacations. There is a lot going for SSR.

I think people are always going to be attracted to different things but that is not to say that one is "better" than another. It's also hard to move out of one's comfort zone but we are sometimes surprised when we do. BWV held very little interest to me as I was very happy at OKW and the photos of the rooms didn't wow me. I also felt Vero was just another oceanfront resort and that I could probably stay elsewhere. Well, one trip to both of these and I was won over with their appeal. I haven't yet stayed at BCV but the very first photos of that resort had me longing to give it a try. VWL is still a little off the radar for me because I want lots and lots of tropical in my Florida trips but I have no doubt that I'll be won over there as well. SSR also has that "too close to home" feel for me but, once again, I suspect someday I'll be pleasantly surprised.

12 extra years . I hope im alive in 2042
Sucks to be you...I WILL be alive in 2042 and if for some God forsaken reason I'm not, I can always pass it down to my kids (the one's that I don't have yet)

DH and I are newlyweds. Why did we buy? Because we've been to WDW 3 times in the past year and half.

Furthermore, I am a travel agent and thus receive 50% off rack rates at Disney resorts. DVC STILL works out cheaper.

Sure, to us it had A LOT of draws...all that have been mentioned on this thread already.

But am I crazy about SSR? I dunno I haven't stayed there yet. But if I don't like it, I can always stay at one of the other DVC resorts so I really don't care.

IMHO it couldn't possibly be any worse then the WLV (seriously those mosquitoes and asking for ketchup is enough to keep me from that place) altough I STILL would have no problem staying there if it meant a WDW vacation. :D

Me 33
DW 32
DD 3

We bought because this is what Disney was offering. We love to spend time at DTD and DD loves to shop for anything Disney! We are excited about the pool since DD is now very excited about swimming. We had been thinking about DVC for about 4 years, I finally convinced DW that we would NEVER regret this, she is already convinced!

SSR Draw:

- As the kids get older, as unfortunately they will, SSR is the
best DVC location to "grow into" over a 50 year contract.
-SPA !!!!!! IMO SSR is the "Lexus" of DVC resorts.
-let's face it, at the 7 month window you can stay almost anywhere/any time so long as not "peak" and when we go peak we'll stay at SSR -we like to "sleep around"... :)
-ROFR support, if I was gambling man if Disney decides to drop ROFR it won't be on DVC II...maybe even a higher ROFR on DVC II.
-wheter we drive or fly, we alwyas have a car...convenient at SSR
-When the kids go to bed...it's party time at PI across the pond!!!

3 Nights At SSR & 4 Nights At BCV :earsboy:

I just booked a trip for August 1-8. I'll have a 2-bedroom for 3 nights at SSR & 4 nights at BCV.

I think this new resort looks great. I like the design of the SSR pool. And I like the positioning of many of the rooms. I have requested a Downtown Disney view. If I get it, I am hoping for a water view, which I would love...along with the opportunity to sit on my balcony and watch the fireworks.

I think this will be a very family oriented resort, and I am sure I will enjoy every moment.::yes:: :wave2:
