From the current Walt Disney World Annual Report: "In order to keep up with the strong (DVC) demand, Saratoga Springs is planning to quadruple its capacity"!

Any idea what this is about?

There was a thread on this not to long ago. I will try to find it and post the link.

Thanks for posting that thread. Hopefully this means stopping at 828 units... not 3000!! :) Guess the annual report could have worded that better.

Yeah and the SSR fans will tell everyone the pool isn't too small and AP is sufficient for food service. How can a themed pool be big enough when the original plans have been expanded? Please don't tell me about quiet pools. Public areas will be a zoo when it is finished. DVC seems to falling into the greedy mode with this project. I've seen Marriott over build there timeshares but I'm a little surprised that DVC is doing it. I feel they would have been better served to keep the original plans and sold out quicker. They could have then offered a new resort to spur excitement. This would have given another resort option to DVC members as well. Someone like me who bought in when the original plans were in place can't help but feel a little duped. I probably still would have bought, but it would have been nice to know the whole story.

I read that in the annual report too and was thinking, boy how large do they want it?? Thanks for the thread. I also think DVC would be better building another resort instead of "crowding" a beautiful new resort.

I have heard rumors that they would be putting in another mini themed pool near the Paddock area to ease the crowds at the main pool. Again, just heard, don't have any real solid information.

Besides it should be that crowded in the main areas anyway, remember all of us buying into SSR really just want to trade out for everywhere else. ;)

I wish this was true. I hope it is. This would help a lot. I hear you on the staying elsewhere thing. :)

I thought the figure was that SSR was going to be 4 times the initial 180-200 unit size. If so it shouldn't get that much bigger.

I think it means that when it is all built, it will be 4 times the size it is now.

We were at WDW in January, and SSR spreads out over quite an area. It comes almost right to the street on the Disney Vacation Club Way(formerly Community Drive).

As I recall though, the main pool area seemed to be a pretty good size, and frankly, similar to OKW, if you are staying farther out from the main area, I don't think most people would make the schlep to the main pool.

Still seems to be a lovely resort to me.
