Hello, folks. Just found this board after being told about it from a conversation at had a the pool at the Boardwalk while there on business last week.

We own at OKW but just purchased some add on points at SSR and are looking at staying at SSR this summer. For any of you that either own at both or have stayed at both, can you compare and contrast the two for me? What will I like about SSR after having spent most of my DVC time at OKW? What won't I like. We are looking for a change this time, just for the variety, but I'd be curious anyone's insights! Thanks

both have big upsides.........it depends upon your likes.........my best pro for OKW......1. parking 2. big rooms 3. lowest point costs............

SSR 1. 12 extra yrs.....2. location closer to DTD will be more appealing as one ages......3. close to the transportation center and restuarants

Thanks, Bongo59. how much smaller are the rooms at SSR? particulary the 2 bd? I thought SSR was trying to be more of akin to OKW from a condo perspective. Will I be disappointed in the size? That's one of the things we love about OKW.

truthfully the size is not that different but the layout seems bigger to me at OKW........i think it is like 150 square feet............i think SSR is better layout than BCV or BW........they both have alot of wasted spaces in my view............but i am very partial to OKW size rooms.........we love the open layout and bigger rooms.............but parking is huge to us............SSR is very very nice..........i think it will grow on everyone very quickly..........the location is also very very good...........

You'll probably notice the difference most in the living room and balcony. The living room has just a sofa and a side chair. We did miss having the sofa and loveseat from OKW.

And the balcony--like most other DVCs--is just the two chair version.

The bedrooms are pretty much the same. The kitchen is the same cube-shaped version they use at BWV / BCV / VWL, which I actually prefer over the kitchen layout at OKW. Yes, OKW has a little more space and is easier for two people to move around, but I kinda dislike the fact that it feels so integrated with the living room.

I agree with bongo's general assessment of the two resorts. The villas at SSR use the same footprint as BWV, VWL and BCV at WDW. 2BR villas are about 1083 sq feet versus 1410 for OKW. The master bedroom is a little larger at OKW and the living room area is much larger.

The furnishings are elegant at SSR and the landscaping and setting are wonderful. Parking is very convenient (similar to OKW) and each building does have elevator access.

Bus transportation will be similar at both resorts. The SSR proximity to DD is very convenient for transport to other resorts.

I don't see any advantage/disadvantage regarding age. Proximity to DD is convenient for transportation, as noted, but won't necessarily appeal to everyone as they age. (I'm already older than dirt and don't have any particluar need to be 10 minutes closer to DD - OKW is only a 15 minute walk as it is now.)

Both are great resorts, with good amenities and will offer something for most tastes.

Enjoy!

OKW is closer to everything (except Downtown Disney).
(Well I guess both SSR and OKW are far away from everything except Downtown Disney).

When they put in a better transit system, such as fast lightrail then OKW might become the most popular resort.
