Hi everyone. I've just got back today from a 12 day trip to SSR (6 days in a studio, 6 days in a 1BR...coming in from the UK we have to make the most of it!), and we had a Fantasmic time!!!

The resort is quite breathtaking, even with the construction, which has minimal impact on anyone's vacation. I can't wait to see what it will look like when it is complete. Once you turn onto the approach road, and go down the lane to the Carriage House, it feels like you are staying in the country rather than just opposite DTD and the associated hustle and bustle!

Bus services to the parks were excellent, regular with no shared bus routes at all. AK is the furthest away, but even that was only a 10-15 minute ride, and on an empty bus, it feels like less!

The walkway to DTD is open and takes only 5-10 minutes from Congress Park, and the boat ride to DTD is pleasant, and every 30 minutes in the evening. I never hit a full boat yet, always able to get on!

The CM's were great and happy to help, with lots of Welcome Home's. This was my first vist as a DVC member, and it is my home resort, and I can't wait to go back!

I hope everyone enjoys it as much as me and my family did. Any questions you might have, just ask!!

Sounds wonderful, I think I may walk over and check out SSR when Im down in WDW in October.

Thanks so much for your positive report. We bought into SSR too from the UK and although we have toured the resort, we wont be staying there until September. We are so looking forward to our first DVC stay, your glowing report does a lot to ease my worries about staying at an unfinished resort!!

Did you find it convenient to go over to DTD for meals? Or did you eat in your room and at Artists Palette?

Any photos?

Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the report! Glad you had a great trip! I cannot wait to go home in NOV.

I was excited to read yet another satisfied guest's report from SSR! I'm glad DTD hasn't had an effect on the resort's themeing. I can't wait to go home!!! Thanks for the report!

Thanks for taking the time to post a report. Glad to hear you had such a great start to 50 years of memories!

I ate at both AP and at DTD. Personally I liked AP a lot. It's not quite a burger & fries kind of place, but the food on offer is very good indeed. The Chef's Special's were great, with at least three or four different ones in a seven day period. You can go to DTD and get anything you fancy, of course! I never ate a meal as such in the room, too much time spent in the parks!!!!

No pictures yet, but hopefully they will be up shortly.

Have a good one, I'm sure you will!!

Paul.

Glad you had a wonderful time and thanks so much for the positive post!

We are going to be at SSR in October and really needed to hear some positive things!

Thanks again,
Carol

Glad to hear you had such a great time! I know people say there is a world of difference between Studio's and 1-bedrooms.....but putting that "world of difference" aside, how would you say the Studios were? Specifically, did you feel like you had enough space to move around??

We're going in December for 10 nights, staying in a studio (didn't have the points to stay in a 1-bedroom yet!)...and it'll only be me, DH, and DS (2-years old). I'm assuming we'll be just fine in a studio, but I'd be curious to hear your thoughts since you actually stayed in both!

Thanks again for the report! I can't wait to go!!!

Thanks for the report! DH and I are trying it out for two nights prior to our GG in an OKW GV in October.

The studio was more than big enough for me, DW and DD, who is 6. Even with the double sofa bed pulled out, there was enough room to pass to get to the balcony, easy! For the amount of time spent in the 1BR when we were there, to be honest, I would be more inclined to go in a studio and get a few more days for the points!

But that's just me. There was absoultely nothing at all to fault the 1BR, the facilities and furnishings were outstanding.

I am so encouraged to read your post !!!! I will be going home in September.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the great review. I too have bought SSR from the UK and I cannot wait for my first stay in December.

Interesting what you say about the studio vs the 1 bedroom. I am going to try both :) to see which we prefer but I tend to agree I would prefer the extra days to the extra room.

What did you think of the pool, and the other "communal" areas? How expensive was the shop for groceries (in comparison to the UK rather than Walmart for instance :)?

Cheers

The pool is great. With the resort not being completed as yet, it is usually fairly quiet, but I am sure it will get busier in time. There are plenty of sunbeds, but not too much shade, so slap on the suntan lotion and you'll be fine!

The communal areas are fine from what I saw of them, but this was not really too much, as we were out a lot!

The groceries are more expensive than the UK, and choice relatively limited, but enough staples there to get you through. If you are planning to eat at your room a lot, I would probably go to a local supermarket to shop.

Have a good time, I'm sure you will!

Paul...thanks for taking the time to share your impressions of SSR. Always glad to hear of a resort meeting and exceeding expectations!

Happy to hear that you had a "Fantasmic" stay, and that you enjoy your new home so much! Thanks. :)

I'm so glad to hear you had such a wonderful time at SSR! I'm proud to call SSR 'home.' :)

Yay!! Thanks for taking the time to reply, Paul. I feel very reassured, now, since I was worrying a little bit about the amount of space my family would have.....I doubt we'd be in the room much, either. There's too much to see and do, to stay holed up inside!!

By the way, did you like the "Rose & Crown" (I think that's the name) at Epcot? Did it feel at all like home?!? My husband and I have ejnoyed hanging out there, drinking a yard of Guiness by the lake....hopefully one day we can do the same, somewhere in the real UK!!! :drinking1
