So with the Brightline train, I can walk from SSR and hit multiple beaches, the airport, Tampa, and Miami? That has to make it the best DVC location yet. Does this influence anyone into buying at SSR?

I can walk

Are you joking?

hit multiple beaches, the airport, Tampa, and Miami?

This is unlikely to be a "day-trip" situation. So do you really see people with luggage and carry-on walking over however far it will be to a Brightline station? I would also expect every resort to likely have a direct bus drop-off/pick-up at the station (we will see).

Does this influence anyone into buying at SSR?

A bigger benefit where people might change their mind for SSR would be a direct Skyliner line, with stop in OKW, that goes to the Epcot station or Magic Kingdom. I can't see any benefit since this Train Station is going to really be for leaving or arriving on your vacation.

The one and only exception to this would be if the station was a very quick walk (not 100% on the location) and would have a direct line to Universal. It could be an okay option for doing a WDW/Universal stay but all at DVC. Downside would still be you lose those onsite benefits of Universal but possibly those can be purchased? (I haven't looked that closely at Universal recently).

Yep! We chatted about the prospects and felt it was a strong perk for SSR. :)

I am under the impression the train station would be a pretty significant walk from SSR. Unless I missed something. You’d be better off renting a car.

As I am thinking of DVC as my snowbird retirement, I thought easy no driving in Florida would be great option. Stay a couple of weeks at SSR or other DVC with day trips to other places. Probably have to Uber in Miami, Tampa, the beaches. BTW, can I stress how much I don’t like driving in Florida?!

You could do this now with uber and airplanes. I'm also not a huge fan of driving in FL because of the advanced wisdom of the drivers there, and my vacation margaritas, but that's why I just use Uber/Lyft.

You could even take hand luggage and store your stuff with Owner's Locker for when you get back to Orlando. Owner's Locker has made my travel feel a lot more flexible in/near Orlando and I think would be a complete game changer for stays this long. MCO is not my favorite airport in the world, but it was always well-connected to Tampa/Miami and isn't so bad without bags.

I don't think too many people going to WDW are looking to take that many side trips outside the bubble. Sure, they will some, but for most, it's a once in a lifetime vacation opportunity. As such, I don't think it will be as valuable. I can see it being a value for those doing non-parks resort only stays.

Great3

It will be more of a convenience for international travelers arriving or departing in Miami. Or locals from Miami to hit up Disney.

Is there a connection from there to the port of Miami? Might make it easier to do a Disney Cruise out of Miami, too, if so.

What's easier though:
  • Jump on regular running bus that drops you off at train station (takes 5-20 mins to get to station from your resort)
  • Walk 1-2 miles with all your luggage
Also we are talking about buying at SSR so this would be an every year or every other year thing.

Maybe locals but I would suspect anyone coming from the UK as an example is going to have a suitcase. My same question above is posed to you on that.

With Disney bought in I would 100% expect a bus connection to the train station or it to be a tiny walk to the DS current bus stop.
