In the AKL to AK thread, someone mentioned SSR and DTD....We stayed there in the summer and found two ways across, and I was wondering if there was a better:
1) From the Grandstand, it seemed like the fastest way was to take a boat, though that wait was often forever. I was tempted to swim it at one point, lol.
2) If one was closer to the entrance, you could sneak around out by the main road and enter DTD through the front.

Is there another way? I saw a bridge, but that bridge seemed to go into a golf course, if I recall.

There is a path from near the boat area to the west side of DTD - it comes out near the HOB and Cirque. I think it may be a path along the golf course and the bridge is how you get there from SSR. We walked the path from CP that runs along the water and comes out near the bus stop at the Marketplace end of DTD and found it quite a nice way to get there if you are in the CP or Paddock section.

Take the bus around to Congress Park. Get out and then walk to the lake, take a left and walk around to the Marketplace.

Take the Downtown Disney Bus that runs through SSR. It stops at the Marketplace and Planet Hollywood.

The Bridge over the river through the golfcourse would take to you Cirque, but, the boat would probably still be faster. And you wouldnt' have to dogde errant golfballs.

Best bet. The DTD bus that runs through SSR or walking. It's not that far.

I agree with Conan the Librarian, but be careful going from DTD to SSR: taking the bus from the Marketplace Bus Stop to SSR is a life-long adventure; walking in any direction will be faster.

I love the walk along the pathway from CP to DTD. It's relaxing and only around 10-15 minutes if you're strolling. :goodvibes

The boat runs every 20 minutes. We love taking it from THV as it leaves every 20 minutes on the 00, 20 and 40.

I was tempted to take the bridge, but the prospect of being hit with a golf ball didn't sound so good. That seems like it would be the best route for a chunk of people staying at SSR.

The bridge over to the West Side is only next to the golf course for a brief period and I think only goes by one green and a tee box....tee box is easy, cause they are playing away from you. The angle they are playing to the green, means they would have to overshoot to hit you on the bridge and most golfers don't play long, they play extreme left and right :rotfl:

We've walked this route many times and have never gotten hit by a golf ball. You pass by a practice putting green and the first tee, which is facing away from you. Really, it's not at all risky.

Walking to DD from SSR is one of the best parts of staying at SSR. I can have a Ghirardelli sundae anytime I want one. I need to walk to burn off the calories.
