I have a reservation for Boma at the AKL for 7:30 on 7/21. I will not have a car, so I'm counting on Disney transportation or a cab. Unfortunately there are no extra magic hours that day, so buses will not be running until the same time we are supposed to be at Boma.

Does anyone know the easiest way to get there? Will the SSR staff give us a voucher for a cab? If not, any idea how much a cab would cost?

(Changing the reservation time isn't really an option, since that will be our departure day.)

THANKS!

You don't need to spend money on a cab. I stay at SSR and my last trip I had ressies at Boma also. Depending on where you are staying at SSR, I was a 5 minute walk from DTD, took the AK Lodge bus from there. Very easy. Chances are no matter what building you stay at there at SSR, you shouldn't have too long a walk to DTD. No way should you have to pay money to take a cab, unless you want to. And no, Disney does not give cab vouchers.

Similar situations have come up with us in the past, and it's always frustrating. I don't think they give vouchers. You're on your own if you use a cab. But check with Guest Relations about the best way to get there. Beware that sometimes the GR CM's might not know the BEST routes (but most of the time they do).

Actually, I wouldn't worry too much about Boma. We just stayed at AKL in May and ate there almost every morning. We never had PS, but also never had to wait more than 5 - 10 min. for a table (depending on the time). I would think that they would be able to seat you pretty fast at that time of day, even if you were late arriving.

Enjoy! And try some of the "native" dishes! The staff is wonderful about telling you what everything is. My DS even got to don a chef's outfit and learned to dip strawberries in chocolate with one of the chefs!

The SSR bell services can give you a price estimate for the cab, before you actually take it. Also the DTD is easy to do..if you are not staying in the Congress Park bldgs, you can take any bus from near the pool and get off at the next stop (you will be at congress Park) and follow the path..very easy.

First, thanks for calling it "Boma" -- it's a pet peeve of mine when people call it Boma's. lol

But at any rate, just catch any bus to Downtown Disney, Disney-MGM Studios, or Epcot, and then switch buses there. All three of these locations would make decent transfer points. Just catch whichever bus shows up first.

Since Boma does both breakfast and dinner--- is your reservation for 7:30AM or 7:30PM??

If it's 7:30pm, I agree with the folks here-- a bus through Downtown Disney will be a snap.

If it's 7:30am, take a cab for sure.

Just want to make sure you don't miss Boma--- breakfast and dinner are both fabulous.

My reservation is for 7:30 AM, something I should have noted in my first post. Will buses be running through Downtown Disney at that time?

If it's 7:30am, then I'd recommend hopping a bus to Animal Kingdom theme park. Let the driver know you are going to the Lodge for breakfast.

There are no buses to DTD at 7:30 am. I think the cab was $10-12 so I'd probably do that just to be sure. If AK opens at 9 then the buses will start running at 7:30--not early enough for you.

If it is for 7:30, another bet would be to take a bus from SSR to whatever park is doing EE that morning (if any at all). I think the buses for that start running around 7a, then you could take a bus from that park to AKL.
We took a cab from BW to SSR on my wedding day from lunch, since the lovely DTD buses put us far behind schedule (one broke loading a scooter). One way was about $12 from what I remember.
When checking into the resort, I would ask guest services also. They can probably give you exact start times on the buses.

That MAY not work. Since the busses do not go back and forth on a fixed route, there MAY NOT be a bus scheduled to go to AKL FROM that particular park that early in the day.
