We just returned from a quick 3 day trip to Saratoga Springs and WDW. This was our third stay at SSR since it opened (We also own at BWV & VWL). I know that there are a lot of "SSR-bashers" out there, so if you are one of those, go read something else.
We stayed in the newly opened "The Springs" building, just in front of the main pool. We had a 1 bedroom on the first floor facing the construction across the lake. We had the oppurtunity to wander around the resorts new area and just loved the landscaping and the attention to detail. We can tell that when the new section is opened across the lake it too will be beautiful.
The construction seems to have picked up since our last visit back in December. They are tearing down the old fairway villas along the side of the LBV golf course. There was routine maintenance going on at different parts of the property, so everything was in great shape.
The shop at Artist's Palette had lots of new DVC merchandise. There was also an offer to get a "pal mickey" with a DVC member t-shirt. We didn't eat there this time.
The turf club was a great place to stop for a cocktail, we sat out on the patio overlooking downtown. It was mid-week in the early afternoon, so no one else was around.
We shot around the parks 1 day. We went to see "lucky the dinosaur" at AK. It was incredible. Everyone has to see him. We went to Epcot to try soarin' but when we got there we didn't want to wait 20 min. (are we lazy or what?). We ate at Sunshine Seasons in the land pavilion. Good food at reasonable "disney" prices. We then took the monorail to MK to see the castle and ate again at the new terrace noodle station. It was fantastic! the pot stickers are great!!!
We also pikced up our DVC exclusive pins for the 50th
We went back to SSR and just walked around the resort. Then sat on the patio.
We've come to realize that you really have to be able to relax to enjoy SSR. If you are one of those folks who can't sit still or have to get the full value of your park pass (opening til' closing) this place isn't for you.
We love SSR and look forward to going there again.
