SSR sales are brisk.

Wow. Interesting #s. Assuming maximum occupancy though (the former Institute won't compare in numbers to SSR) and that guests are dispersed throughout the World and that they are staying at SSR (as opposed to other Disney resorts or off-sites), I can see maybe 4,000+ isn't such a big number after all.

More than anything now, I am really thinking of the impact on DTD. I know, for example, that Disney Quest can be REALLY congested at certain times of the day and I think there will be more traffic there because of SSR--likewise PI/marketplace, etc. I don't know whether or not it will be noticeable, but a new park sure would ease crowding overall anyway. Even a couple of hundred more people at DQ will make lines too long to wait in.

I don't know if sales are brisk or not but do know that when you go to purchase something like a timeshare the sales people will tell you that sales are going very well and that there are not many left so you better jump on now, it's a common ploy. You think everybody else is buying so you do. Just look at some of the responses of the other posters, they act like SSR is selling out. Sometimes i think some of the other posters are DVC sales people hyping everything up to get people to buy.
Look at what the original post said "Brisk Sales" then in the next post someone says that they sold something like over 150,000 points, don't remember exact number of points but you see how it gets pumped up.
Be skeptical of what's written on a message board, always do your own research and base your decision on that.

Even those of us who aren't (yet) excited about SSR are happy to see it selling well!

If nothing else, it means a shorter wait until DVC builds the next resort, which may be more interesting! ;)

I have some older figures (about 2 yrs old) that indicate WDW has as many as 70,000 guests during the peak holiday seasons. Do you really think you would notice a 5% increase in park guests during Christmas or Easter?

I have seen some ex-CMs claim that MK alone may hold as many as 100,000 people during the busiest days. Difficult to believe? Not really -- the annual attendance figures average out to around 40,000 MK visitors per day.

Good point. I also think this resort will significantly increase the guest traffic in DtD. And I'm sure that's exactly what WDW is hoping.

I hope they expand DtD, perhaps to the west, around the water. This would add the additional capacity they'll need and it will make DtD an even stronger attraction, and SSR a way cool place to be.

I talked to my guide today. He told me that DVC announced today that they will be discontinuing the $79 point offer soon. So if you are still thinking about buying SSR do it quick!!!

I spoke with my guide today also and she said that she did not believe Disney would extend the $10 discount past 10/31.

I do have a question. We've decided yes. Now what month should we select? I know December is sold out. October is available. We would probably travel to WDW in early December for 3-4 nights and again in July/August. What do you think would be best for this type of usage?

I too just to spoke to my guide.. Called last week about adding points to SSR.

He just called to let me know the package was leaving tomorrow and I should have it soon. Never mentionned the deadline for $10 off.

Just one question. Does anyone have the point charts and layout for rooms there? I am looking for an online version.

Thanks.

Yes, I agree with a week economy to have such strong sales is scarry. I think there is a point at which sales will start to ecline because most people that are will to put up 12 to 15K to own the Disney dream have already bought.

I would expect to see sales start to slow and then slowly decline at first and then much quicker. For you MBA types, this is similar to the a product curve (introduction, growth, maturity, decline).

So if:
Intro - OKW
Growth - BWV, BCV, VWL, This may still be SSR
Maturity - Contempory, Eagle Pines
Decline - Polynesian, California Disney, Animal Kingdom (Wishfull Thinking)

And all of our dreams will come true!!

but every year there is a fresh new crop of young adult couples and young couples who just had children, who were still in school when OKW, BWV, etc. were sold, but who now are in a position to buy those shiny 50 year points at SSR. Just like they haven't run out of people to buy houses -

That's actually a very good point. Six years ago my wife and I spent a week at Port Orleans for our honeymoon. When we returned to WDW a year ago to stay at Old Key West, my wife reminded me of something I had said 5 years prior.

Apparently at one point during the honeymoon we were on a WDW bus and drove past OKW. My wife had (jokingly) said we should stay at OKW for our next trip. My response was apparently "yeah, as soon as we make our first million." :)

Never would have thought (at the time) that DVC would be a reality for us...

We were there for 3 weeks in August, over from England and we went round the demo area twice, both times it was packed and the sales reps were snowed under. In addition, most seemed to be signing up for SSR.
We signed up for 350 points and cannot wait to get back next Christmas for 10-11 days. What worries me now is that I may not be able to book it as so many others are signing on.

It certainly will be the best thing we have done, and the $79 price cannot continue, and valid for 50 years was a real bonus compared to re-sales, or is that burden, with dues now due for 50 years? A happy burden that we will enjoy for many years to come.

Well we decided after 3 straight trips to WDW in the past 3 Octobers that the DVC would be a good investment. Considering the 50 years and $79 a point, we signed up for 200. I'd love to have more but this should cover us and possible some friends each year. We have some concerns about the way that SSR is laid out but I think they will get it taken care of.

When we joined this past weekend, the DVC office at BWV was packed every time we entered. We found it difficult to schedule a tour time so there are a lot of people considering buying at SSR even if they aren't all buying.
