Hope I'm posting this ? in the right spot...I've tried to search for my answer...

We're staying at SSR in early November. I booked the room through a friend-recommended travel agent off Ebay who rents her DVC points out. From talking to her, she said to contact the resort directly for room requests.

My question IS...where do you recommend to stay? I know SSR is huge. From what I've read, Congress Park with DD views seems to be the popular spot. Any places that I absolutely do not want to stay near?

Finally, whom do I call with my request and what are my odds of it being accepted? Is it frowned upon to call with requests? If someone could point me towards a link of resort phone #'s, that'd be awesome.

Thanks for any input!

She's wrong. Rented DVC points/stays and any requests linked to them such as room location requests, Magical Express, changes to the people in the room etc have to be done through Member Services. Only she can call and make the requests. (Side note, (which doesn't really apply as we're talking DVC point reservation): any Disney resorts booked through a travel agent are owned by the agent right up until you check in & only the agent can make the changes for you.)

I've heard some folk mention that the Paddock is way out there & they don't care for it for that reason. That said, I'll probably end up there over the holidays :rotfl: Eh, I'll be in Disney... that's what matters most

Your odds of getting what you've asked for will depend on the room coodinator and how much work they need to put into shuffling people around to grant your request. You might be lucky and get what you ask for. I've never made a request and have so far gotten nice villas. Again, call the woman who rented the points to you. Member services is the only one that can do this & they won't speak with you.

The DVC member who made the reservation for you will need to call DVC Member Services and add your requests to the reservation.

At this point in time, the only people who can see and modify your reservation are at Member Services. And they will not speak with you, as a non-member. They won't even confirm that a reservation exists, since you don't own the reservation.

A few days before your check-in date, the reservation will download to the resort, and they will be able to see it in their system. Now, when you call the resort's number, you're not actually getting the resort, but a call center. They should be able to confirm the reservation, but I'm not sure that they'll allow you to add requests to it. The member retains full control of the reservation until you actually check in.

So, you have a few options. Contact the member you rented from and get them to add the requests. Or, wait till a few days before you arrive, and see if you can add the requests at that time. Or, wait till you check in, and discuss your requests with the front desk CM. If the resort isn't fully booked, they may be able to adjust your room location.
