DVCNews.com is reporting that in 2012 Disney will be renovating the rooms at Saratoga Springs Resort. See http://dvcnews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1594&Itemid=1.

I looked at the Notice of Commencement referenced in the News article, and it appears that the initial renovation will be at a building in the Congress Park area of SSR. I wonder if the renovations will permit the SSR one-bedroom occupancy level to expand from 4 to 5 guests, much like what happened at OKW.

That would depend upon if there is sufficient area in the room for clearance to have the sleeper chair and sleeper sofa open at the same time. It has been said that BWV and BCV one bedroom don't have enough space, and it may be the same situation with SSR.

Would they have enough space if they utilized the Murphy bed setup in use at VGC? Would the SSR villas gain space by mounting a flat screen TV on a wall and getting rid of the TV armoire?

That would eliminate some storage that might be important to parties who have people sleeping in the pull-out.

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that the 2nd-gen resorts (VWL, BWV, BCV, and SSR) do not have enough space in the living room to make it work.

Booo. MFs will go up :headache: I'm rather enjoying the relatively lower dues of SSR.

Capital Reserves should already be set aside to cover the renovation so you shouldn't see any greater increase than usual.

Yeah, even though Capital Reserved should cover as we expect, the cost will evenually trickle down to the owners: Disney will not take on the expense soley until they own it outright in 2042 or whenever it becomes Disney's .

I so hope they don't mess it up like they did, OKW with a cheap redo and that horrible repainting of the furniture.

The first sections of SSR should be about up for their scheduled maintenance/refurbishment....seems most of the resorts have gone through theirs except SSR, so they would be the logical one to be done next.

I don't see anything major happening with the rooms, as already said, the living room in SSR is on the small side and not sure they can take a sleeper chair.

DVC has been collecting funds for the renovation since we started paying annual dues. It does make sense to start at Congress Park, since that was the first batch of rooms open (I think). As for the renovation itself, I'd be willing to pay a little more in monthly fees if they do a good job and buy decent replacement furniture (instead of the stuff in BLT).

Edit: At the end of the article, Tim mentioned the number of rooms at SSR and the Treehouse Villas. This brings up an interesting point, will they renovate the new treehouses as well or are they on a separate schedule?
