We are going to have to stay 2 nights at Saratoga Springs Resort. While I have driven there before, it seemed like a long way away from anything.

I have a few questions.

1 - For park access, am I better off driving and parking or is the Disney transportation to SSR frequent and fast enough to use that?

2a - What is there at or near SSR in walking distance or a short ride away?

2b - I know Downtown Disney is close to SSR, but is there some way (boat?) other than the bus to get there?

3 - Is there a place at SSR to buy milk or other basic food items? If so, how are the prices?

We drive mostly everywhere because I just don't do buses well.

Within walking distance is Downtown Disney. I think you can walk to Old Key West on a path.

You can take a boat to DTD, as well as walk.

Artists Palette has groceries - price range is the same as any other resort hotel - definitely higher than what you're going to pay at the regular grocery store.

1) I still believe that 99% of the time it is faster to take a bus from SSR to the "front door" of the MK than to drive, park at TTC, Take a tram to the "front" of the TTC, then take a boat or monorail to the MK. The other parks do not require that other TTC "hop", but are somewhat closer to SSR.
If you're adventerous, try my patent-pending "Bus roulette" game and always take the first park bus to whatever park they are going!
2a) I've heard that OKW is a really long walk. If you're interested, the LBV golf course clubhouse is at SSR.
3) If you have access to the DVC member website, there is a "grocery list" you can download that would give you an idea of the prices.
