Just back from 5 nights studio at our home SSR with a few questions.

How much is the average to leave for housekeeping since I only got one T&T and the cleaning after we left?

We have a DD10 AND DS19months.
I asked MS if I could pay for the couch to be made into a bed for a very late arrival. She said it usually is already to pull out. (Not!) I asked for a high
chair. (Not there until after 3rd call to front desk!) Requested a close area to the main pool (I got farthest possible) I know that is only a request. We got to our room at 1am and the key reader was broken!

Other than that we had a nice stay.

I'm surprised the bedding was not already on the pull out when you got there. We have never had a stay where the bedding wasn't already on the pull out. I also have never had a unit that didn't have at least one (sometimes more) high chair in it. Both of those things would be unusual, and would have been a fault of the mousekeeper not doing their complete job. That brings me to your first question. Given the shortcomings with the room not being properly prepared prior to your arrival, I would not have left a tip.

Housekeeping is not a tipped position, so we don't leave anything unless we request extra service.

Both of our trips the sofa bed was not made up(SSR & VWL).

We always use the sleep sofas as well, and once we open them up they have been made up with sheets and blanket. The pillows and an extra blanket are in the closet.

I don't think the studios usually have a high chair in the unit. This would be a request, but not sure if they install it before check in or afterwards.

Our pull-out was not made up either at SSR. However, I truly would rather not have it made up for the simple reason that I would just feel like they didn't remove the sheets from the previous renter!!::scared1: Putting it together was really no big deal - and I pulled the nice, clean sheets from the closet myself!!:)

Laura,

I wholeheartedly agree! I like to put the sheets on myself, ensuring they are not "leftovers" from the previous renter.................of course, I have always been a fan of the little paper toilet strips that say "sanitized for your protection!" :rotfl: :rolleyes1

We just got back and our sofa wasn't made up either, which was just fine by me. It was really easy to do, however, if you specifically called to check and was told that it would be I can understand being upset - especially when you arrived late with small children.

We've never had highchairs in the studios, but they were always in larger units. Also, pullouts have never been made. (which I am happy about) I always leave $1 per person per day for tip if in a regular resort, but for a DVC stay I just leave $5 flat. We usually pick up after ourselves everyday anyway.

When we were there a couple of weeks ago, our sofa bed was not made up either. We had to call for sheets to do it. As far as tipping goes, I'm up in the air on that. We had to wash a load of towels with a group of 6 of us. I think 4 days until T & T is a bit much but......it's not a big deal to me to wash a load of towels. I have to say, I do like my bed getting made every day like I do at home, but that's not a showstopper for me either. SSR is beautiful though!!:thumbsup2

We just got back from SSR last week and our sofa bed was not made up either. Don't know if the sofa beds are unique at SSR, but when we left our son's sheets/blanket on the bed and folded it up, it was a very tight fit and made unfolding it difficult as well. We ended up taking all but the matress sheet off before folding, and storing the blanket and top sheet in the coffee table/storage box thing in the room. Made life easier...

We also did not tip, as we understood it was not a gratuity based position. Besides, if anyone should have gotten a tip, it should have been my wife, who vaccuumed once for us, and generally picked up after me most of the week! Even though our room was spotless, my wife's a bit of a neat freak and probably left the place cleaner than when we arrived!
