We did the SSR photopass photo shoot last week and got some really nice family photos. We bought the CD there so it was $133.xx after tax for the CD and it came w/ 3 5x7 of our choice w/ borders if we wanted them. Also DVC members get a free 6x8 and 2 2sets of 4x6 (2 copies of 2 different pics).

The photopass guys were down by the pool as well and were doing shots there by request. DH got a bunch of fun ones with the kids and I saw another family did some with the waterslide.

My kids weren't overly into doing the photo shoot but the photographer was able to get some great candids which are some of my favorite pics of our whole trip.

Anyway just thought I'd pass along the info about the extra free photos for DVC members since I hadn't seen that mentioned before. :goodvibes

That all sounds great- what was the charge for the photo shoot?

What time slot did you do for the photo shoot and how long did it last? Was it easy to get the time that you wanted? I am planning this for our Fall trip- can't wait!!

the photo shoot was free with the purchase of the CD, stand alone I think it was just under $50 pre-tax.

We had a 9:30am time slot and the book was wide open for time slots. They did say that the light is best in the early mornings and early evenings so that's why we picked the earlier morning time. I also had hoped the kids would be in a good mood for photos when they were fresh from a good nights sleep. ;)

It took around 30mins, maybe a bit longer since the kids were really wound up and bopping all over. We went down by the golf course by the water and up out front in that little circled in garden in the driveway. We could have done a few others but the kids were done and didn't want to have anything else to do with the whole thing. LOL

I would take into consideration that the heat and humidity will be a factor so just something to keep in mind and when you are down by the golf course that early, the golf carts are coming by pretty quick and they aren't really looking for people to be walking in the golf cart pathways.

It was a lot of fun though and I'm going to plan on doing it again in a couple years when the kids are a bit older. I'll post some pics when DH gets back from Star Wars weekends w/ the new CD. Another bonus is that they'll keep adding photos to the CD for free. They did ask that we try to only do 1 extra burning of the CD so DH will go in late Sunday night (they close at 10pm) and add all our remaining photopasses to CD.

Thats awsome, I was thinking of Hiring disney photography for our december trip but I was just one the resort thread and saw they are going to be starting the photopass photot shoots at Animal Kingdom lodge, so I called to confirm and the guy at photopass said yes, they will be starting there, Also at the Wilderness lodge and Beach club!!!

Now I'm thinking I might do the photopass one and save some bucks!

we did the Grand Floridian one in Jan and loved it but did not want to do it again (we just wanted a change of location-for some different pictures)

I think we payed about $25 on top of the pre payed CD which was $99 (I think if we had not ordered the CD it would have been $50 - we has to show our reciept from the pre order CD)

I didn't know as DVC members we got a couple free photos! Great Perk!!!

Oh and the photo shoots are 30 minutes- We got a ton of photos (all one our CD) but than again there were only 2 of us

I have the SSR shoot scheduled for 3:00 on Father's Day. Do you think it'll be ok to do it in the afternoon? That was the easiest place to work it into our schedule. Also, I didn't tell them that we were DVC members. Do I need to call ahead or can I just mention it that day? Thanks!

Just mention it when you get there if they don't already ask you. I'd bring your member card just in case but they said they didn't need to see ours. Like all things Disney, I'm sure it is YMMV.

The specific times of day they mention are a standard 'best light' hours for photography so I'm sure that's why they suggested that to me. I specifically asked about best times though since our schedule was wide open. I can't see why afternoon would be any problem but I'm not a photographer. Maybe asking around on the photography board would get some good info on the difference in lighting and how the pictures turn out?

Delmar, would you be willing to share some of the pictures? I'd like to consider doing it, as my family and I have never had a family portrait done. My DH is the one that's a problem! He really doesn't want to have any taken, but maybe if he saw yours, he'd be in! Thanks!!

I will post some tomorrow afternoon after DH gets home. He's burning his star wars weekend photos and the rest of our photopasses from the beginning of the week onto the disc tonight.

Here are a few of the pics. As you can see my little one was pretty much non-stop motion but I didn't want to corral him and have him start having tantrums so we just went with the flow. At the end are a couple of the ones they took by the pool on another day.
