I just read on dvcnews.com they have pictures of the new pool at SSR Paddocks.. Here are the details.. I think this is an excellent decision for this part of SSR. I wouldn't mind staying there now.

As was reported in the 2009 annual meeting notice and at the meeting itself, Disney Vacation Club will be converting The Paddock pool at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa from a leisure pool to a feature pool. Click inside for details including the completion timeframe and to view high-quality concept art of the proposed enhancements.

During his presentation at the 2009 Condo Association meeting, Jim Lewis provided the following information regarding the pool project:

The pool will be 3,300 sq ft--roughly triple the size of the current quiet pool on this site (about 3/4 the size of the High Rock Spring feature pool)
It will include a 146-ft water slide
There will be a 1,200 sq ft water play area for children
Lifeguards will be on duty
A Quick Service dining location will also be added (burgers & fries)
Construction cost is approximately $.41 per point to be paid from reserve fund
Below is a high-quality rendering of the concept artwork for the new pool facility.

Now the next question is if they can add counter service location to this pool why can't do they do this to Kidani????

Are you willing to pay to add a counter service location? SSR owners are paying to add theirs.

This will move the Paddock and the Springs sections (short walk over the bridge)to the top of the list. This is a great move!

Fortunately the funding is coming out of the excess DVC reserves, so no additional fees for SSR owners!

Disney budgets to maintain the reserves at a certain level. If a project or extra amenity causes the reserve to fall below that level, Disney will increase next years dues to make up the shortfall.

SSR owners have already paid into the reserve fund for things like roof replacements and parking lot repaving which may not occur for as long as 20 years from now.

Funds will be taken from the reserve fund for this project. Those funds will certainly have to be replenished, but that process can easily be spread over a decade or more. The 2010 budgets have been set and the total increase was only 2.9% which is in line with the other resorts.

Members shouldn't expect to see a 10% bump in dues for a single year to pay for the project. Instead it will be spread over several years--probably on the order of $.04-.07 per point, per year for the next 6-10 years.

I didn't say that they will pay tomorrow, next year, or 5 years, but they will pay. I got into a conversation after the meeting where some SSR owners thought that it was wonderful that the DVC was building them a new pool. I tried to explain that Disney/DVC doesn't pay for anything. The costs for everything is payed for by the members.

It's like the Government. they decide on the projects and schedules, we pay the tab. :goodvibes

We just got back from SSR and they have already begun construction on the pool area!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
