SSR or Wait List?

Thank you for the advice and the help. My wife and I are choosing to go with SSR because the 12 years makes a big difference to us (I am 25 and she is 24). Although you never know what the future will bring, we hope that we will be able to enjoy the extra time. Thank you again for all of the replies.

and ended up buying VWL. It wasn't because we didn't like SSR it was because my husband didn't want to feel "committed" to something for an "extra" 12 years. We aren't older by any means (he is 33 and I am 29) but he didn't feel that when he is in his 80's we would be as committed to going to Disney as we are now.

The ONE draw I liked over SSR that VWL had was it was closer to the monorail and the fact that we have young children, I felt it better to be closer to Magic Kingdom/Epcot (at least for the next 15-20 years). However, this will certainly not stop me from wanting to try a few stays at SSR.

As for waitlisting - we bought directly through Disney 210 points with a UY of June. We went on a waitlist for 2 days - then we got the call.

Good luck no matter were you buy.....

I saw some posts about going on a wait list for other DVC properties; what are the advantages to doing this instead of purchasing at SSR? We will probably sign our final paper work within the next week and just wanted to make sure that we are doing the right thing. Thank you for any help.

I own at boardwalk and a small add on with SSR .. Its a alsome place aslong as either your drive down or your kids are older. The resort is spread out and I will have no problem staying down there when the kids are older and we want to spend more time at the night life at downtown disney ..
