We were in a standard studio. The front desk said all of the rooms were getting them. They work great.

Putting in a real bar with the refurb I hope? Lounge and restaurant refurb starts in March and lasts 6 months.

If someone books a cash reservation can they request The Springs or Congress Park or are these only for preferred DVC reservations?

Cash reservation can make requests too. Just call Disney reservations and tell them
You want to make a room preference request and they will help you. Not guaranteed.

I wonder if one day they'll put all that space the Spa was taking up to good use.

We are here now and yesterday while we were at Epcot they switched out the coffee maker with one of those Keurig combo makers. It takes up more room of the limited studio counter space but it does fit under the cabinet. If you are like us and bring your own filters you'll need the flat bottom ones.

It seems like they are going resort-to-resort and switching out to this style of coffee maker everywhere. If when you check in they haven't upgraded your room yet, you can call housekeeping and have one sent over.
