DVC forums...but here's my 2 cents:
SSR is a beautiful resort. The decor in the rooms feels very upscale.
For the family, I would reccommend the Springs section. It is closest to the main pool (zero entry which is great for the little ones) with the waterslide and the pop jets wet play area.
There are free, or low cost, activities available at the main building if you or your family are so inclined. They also offer a carriage ride for some extra fun (and an extra fee).
The Congress Park section is also nice. It is right across the lake from Downtown Disney, and you can request an DTD view if that suits you. It is a short walk to DTD for additional dining options.
