SSR - how long from bedroom to kitchen

Ok crazy question - but I hate the fact that SSR internet connection is only in the bedroom next to the bed in the 1BR units. I need to work a bit while there and being two feet next to the bed doesn't cut it with a little one napping.

So, I'm going to bring a long ethernet cable with me. My IT department gave me a 20 footer. Don't think that will be long enough. I'm thinking 30 feet.

Anyone got a guess about how long to get it from the desk (next to the window) through the room and to the kitchen table area?

someone a couple of mouths ago post something on the subject about a portable wireless router you can use there. I have a wireless internet through Verizon wireless so i don't have to worry about plugging anything in at the resort except for power.

We just returned from a 1br unit at SSR on Sunday. The ethernet hookup is in the far right corner as you enter the Master BR. I would suggest a wireless router. 30' of cable will get you close, but 20' would not be long enough for sure.

We just got back, and thank goodness my son brought a long ethernet cord! I set it up at the kitchen table. I THINK it was a 50' cord.

Thanks to all that responded - I'm a bit technoligically challanged and wouldn't know the first thing about wireless set ups! They are probably easy - but I am just impressed when I can take my laptop somewhere and actually use it!

I think I will see if IT has a 50 footer just in case.

I have a Verizon 3G card and a wireless router, BUT I always carry a cable too... nothing beats the sureness (and speed) of a cable.

And if someone is technologically challenged, the cable is MUCH easier.
