Planning a trip for Me, my wife, daughter (16) and daughter (14) to go to WDW in a couple of weeks before our APs expire. Currently SSR has availability for all classes of accommodations for our dates. Looking to minimize number of points to borrow from next year so I am considering a studio. We don't usually eat in the room and typically don't spend much time at the resort.

So, for 2 adults and 2 teens is a studio going to be too cramped for 7 nights? Again, we usually stay in 1BR or 2BR every other year and usually have 5 or more people in our group.

Also, what do the self-serve laundry facilities cost?

Thanks in advance for any input.

1 queen bed, 1 double sofa, 1 bathroom, could be tight if you spend a lot if time in the room.
Laundry is at the pools, no cost, if they have a coin slide ignore it and just push it, no $$ needed.

Yes, it will be cramped if you are used to staying in a 1 or 2 bedroom. I have older sons and there is no way all 4 of us could spend 7 nights in a studio.

Your family will just have to decide if it is worth it to be cramped to get in one last Disney trip.

It's virtually the same as staying in a hotel room all together except there will only be one real bed and one double sleeper sofa. Some people will be fine with it and others not depending on how all do sharing a room for sleeping and sharing one bathroom.

Honestly, I don't see 2 people sleeping on the pull out couch, plus basically 4 adults sharing one bathroom. I concur it will be cramped and you will really notice it coming from a 1 or 2 bedroom.

I have 3 teenage daughters. Lately we do split stays. Start out in a studio & stay longer at the parks / less in the room. Switch over to a 1BR & then look to do less park hours & more room / hotel activities. That allows us to stretch our points and get a few extra nights at WDW. If someone is in a bad mood, it can feel a bit cramped. My suggestion - give a studio a try (& get an extra night or two out of your stay).

Here are a few points of view;

1. Give the studio a try. it will be more cozy that you are used to but the SSR studio is not tiny like the BLT studios. Plus, you can always use the pool as a hang out spot of you are at the parks and need some down time. I would be a little concerned about a 14 and 16 year old on the sofa bed thought. You might consider packing an air mattress or having one delivered by Amazon or Dizzy Dolphin delivery service.

2. Go ahead and get a one bedroom. Try for the standard view since it uses up less points. Check in on Sunday and leave on Friday if at all possible to reduce the amount of points used since Friday and Saturday are more points.

One thing we tend to use is an air mattress. One child sleeps on the sofa (as is, not pulled out into bed) and the other sleeps on the air mattress. The air mattress is easy to pick up during the day and throw up against a wall to help open up space.

We just got back from SSR in a studio with two couples in the room. Combined use of our straggling points that we don’t need for next year’s trip to make last minute plans (5-6 months out is last minute by Disney standards). Went in it knowing that this was a bonus trip to Disney and we did fine. The pull out couch was a little hard, but perfectly fine for 4 nights. I can fall asleep anywhere though. We managed with one bathroom. Had a great time!

We did easily with two adults, and we would have fit our son in just fine. He is 22 and over 6 foot.

But I don't spend a lot of time getting ready in the bathroom, and we have showers synchronized down to the minute. (Not really, but we all work really well together.)

Only you know how much time everyone needs in the bathroom in the morning. So only you know if you can do it.

We are in a SS studio with our two daughters (16 and 18) right now. This was a 3 night stay that we are checking out of today as we are resort hopping and headed to the Poly for the next week (where we are getting two rooms).

I would say 3 nights was just enough for us in a SS studio. We arrived very late the first night and have been out of the room most of the weekend so it has not been too bad but this would not work for a week for us.

We packed our weekend clothes in our carryons so we have been able keep our big suitcases closed and tucked out of the way. We also send my poor husband to the balcony ( though it is beautiful and he enjoys the view) while the girls are getting ready. The girls also have found the pullout very uncomfortable (and they have slept on lots of pullouts so agree with PP about a mattress enhancer if you stay here more than a couple of nights)

I would recommend a one bedroom or a split stay....and if you do a split do SS on the weekend to save points and do it first so you have that “moving up” feeling....that has definitely kept us from focusing on being on top of each other.
