SSR & Conventions?

DH remembers seeing convention rooms at SSR. I thought the majority of the SSR rooms were going to be for members like OKW & WL and be convention free. Anyone know? Also, the points currently being sold at SSR does anyone know about how long before the actual buildings will be up? This is assuming they are still only selling presales. TIA!

There is no convention space at SSR. There is a theater on-site (small movie theater w/ stage) that is not owned by the resort and could be rented out for special events. We walked through the resort last week and I believe the marquee said something about Magic Music Days (?) events being held there.

The intent is to sell all guest rooms as part of the timeshare program.

In all likelihood they are still pre-selling. Two or three buildings have opened so far this year, but those are the first openings since August '04. In all likelihood, those units have already been sold.

But there are 5 more buildings scheduled to open sequentially throughout the remainder of the year, so it's just a matter of time before they catch-up.

Well we just bought into SSR and our guide said ours wont be done until Sept, so we have a September use year.

The building my DH and I just bought into won't be done until September, but we chose a December use year, so you don't HAVE to have your use year for the same month that the building is ready.

I have done lots of reading and calculations and am ready to "do the deal", 150 points at SSR when I meet with my guide on June 2nd.

Now what would be the advantage in waiting and making my use year December? I probably won't be able to visit the mouse again until January so I'm wondering if this is something I should be thinking about. Gosh, just when I think I have it figured out, something else pops up

I believe you can request whatever use year you want at SSR. Use year has very little bearing on when you travel though. The only time Use Year matters is when you need to cancel a reservation close to the date you are to arrive. Then it is nice to be within your banking window so those points can be banked. In 9 years, we have never had to cancel a reservation late, so I wouldn't be too concerned about use year.

I didnt know I could pick my use year. Our guide just said Septemebr and we said O.K.
