SSR Amenities

I was just looking at the Disneyworld.com web site and clicked on the “compare resorts” feature for the Home Away from Home resorts. It lists some amenities for SSR that I wondered about. For activities it lists: Basketball, Bike Rentals, Jogging Trails, Playground, Shuffle- Board, Tennis, Volleyball, and Watercraft Rentals. The site also indicates that there will be kid’s programs and a table service restaurant (but no room service or pizza delivery).

There are a few more amenities here than I expected, specifically the table service and the kid’s programs (which I hope is child care — but I’m not sure.). I suspect that the watercraft rentals are at Downtown Disney but it would be nice to have that right at our resort!

We can’t wait to see more pictures and reviews after the opening in May. Does anyone have any details about the kid programs or the table service resaturant?

In the Winter 2003 Vacation Magic a story appears talking about the Artists Palette restaurant at SSR. It is described as a "grab-and-go" with items that you can eat right there, take to your villa, or take to the pool.

Artists Palette will seat 124 people, however:

"....there will be no table service."

That is a direct quote from the article.

"The centerpiece of the room will be a beautiful oven...where we'll be making items like pizzas, calzones, and forcaccia (sandwiches)....Guests will be able to talk to the chef and have pizzas or sandwiches made to their liking."

They also talk about other items being available like muffins, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, omelets and some other items.
