If we booked a 1bedroom Fri and Sat and have a 2 bedroom booked Sun-thurs will we have to move? We are renting points for the Sun-Thurs reservation and have booked through Disney with pin code the 1 bedroom (320.00 per night :thumbsup2 ) and was curious if we are going to have to move rooms? I am not sure if SSR is lock off units or not.

Thanks !

Probably as your 2 bedroom is probably going to be a dedicated 2 bedroom. They have both but unless you booked a lock off you will not get one.

OK thank you!

Just curious. Why would someone perfer a lock off? I think the dedicated are nicer.

If you have 2 couples or families together, they may prefer the separate outside entrance through the second bedroom. They may also prefer their own kitchenette (for example if one gets up earlier).

Also some prefer a lockoff when they know they are moving into a one bedroom or studio during the same trip. :thumbsup2

We have a simular situation happening in Oct 06. The only way we could be guarenteed not to move was to book the 2 bdrm for the entire time. I 'm certain we probably would not have had to move but we didn't want to chance having to move food and everything else. The CM said that she could place the request but could not guarentee the change from a 1 to a 2 bdrm so we made the change.

Hope you all have a lovely and MAGICAL time during your stay at Home~

Maybe so they wouldn't have to move if they had a 1 BR or studio for part of the time, LOL. And also if there are guests who prefer a separate entrance for any reason. Some also try it in case they need to downsize the reservation later though this rarely works now with DVC. Maybe in the MIL is going you want to be able to lock her out of your unit.

I've tried it twice and didn't have to move either time. But you do have to check in again and get new keys which you shouldn't have to do if you have a single reservation.

Let's suppose that your 1BR for the first 2 days is part of a 2BR lockoff. Considering that DVC resorts typically run at nearly full occupancy, it's likely that someone else is occupying the studio side of that lockoff.

Unless the other party happens to be checking out of studio side on the same day that your 2BR reservation starts, you'll have to move.

It wouldn't hurt to link your two reservations now. And it wouldn't hurt to ask about staying in the 1BR side and adding the studio when our 2BR reservation starts — but I wouldn't count on being successful.

actually, we just booked a 2 bedroom at SSR for Oct and requested a lock-off. we are taking my (maybe soon to be) MIL and we wanted her close but with her own quarters... not taking the chance that she would be in a studio down the hall or on another floor , this seemed to be the best solution....

ps/ and yes Dean, while we are thrilled she is joining us, there is something to be said about privacy! :rotfl:

You may regret not putting her in her own unit AT A DIFFERENT RESORT. OKW would be close enough I'd think.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: good one Dean!!

actually, truth be told, she's a very sweet lady and besides, I hear the walls are extremely soundproof !! should be advantageous both ways

seriously, she loves the idea of her own little kitchen and patio for early morning coffee.... believe it or not, this is her first trip ever - at the tender age of 78! and I hope she'll be joining us for a few more!
