Next week we are headed to a 1BR at SSR -
What baby/child proofing supplies would you recommend I bring for a 3 year old and an 8 month old ("expert" crawler and pulls herself up on furniture).

Thanks!!

Two pack and plays to put each child in???;)

The kitchen could be difficult to childproof. The TV would not be easy to child proof. Plus you have the sliding door to the patio.

Good luck.

Slider door. It does have a lock on it, and I found it difficult to open up. I'm not sure if all the sliders are as hard to open. I would think it would be hard for a 3 year to do this. Maybe others w/ kids can comment.

Definitely dead bolt, and put up the chain, a 3 year old shouldn't be that tall to keep every one in at night.

The kitchen has several cabinet doors. I know I've seen the kid proof things that go on the outside of the doors. Here is a link to the ones I was thinking about.

Cabinet lock - less than $3 each. Features a button on the side and one on the front that must be pressed simultaneously to release the serrated plastic strips. To use, slide the strips through cabinet handles, then through the lock and secure.

I remember at least 2 sets of 2 cabinet doors in the 2 bedroom. There may have been 1 more. Maybe someone has a pic, to know for sure.

There are several drawers in the kitchen and around the 1 bedroom, I'm not sure if you are locking those as well. Specifically the onese w/ silverware and knives in the kitchen.

Good luck, and have great trip

There's more cabinets than stuff in the kitchen, so I just rearranged things so that the bottom cabinets had kid friendly things in them. Pots and pans, plastic stuff, etc.

A word of caution - the coffee table in the living room is on wheels and moves easily. You're little one might try to pull up on it just to have it sail away from her.

My son loved the one big cupboard with the pot and pans in it.

PS - Just remembered that the TV is on a swivel and if little one pushes on it, it will rotate around. Watch her little fingers. Not trying to scare you, it's not a child trap or anything, but you have to be on your A-game!

Make sure you check the drawers in the bathroom. We have found some items there before that were left behind by the last guests. Also, there are so many doors to the bathroom/bedroom area that they have caused a problem for us. On one of our trips, the kids locked the bedroom door and the bathroom doors and came out into the living room while dh and I were already out there. Needless to say, we then could not get in. We had to call maintenance to come unlock them twice before we were able to get them open with a credit card. After that, we made sure a towel or something blocked the door from closing all the way. Now we know to grab one of the little keys to our bathroom door from home and take it with us.
