Hi,

We are considering going in Dec. to stay at SS and were wondering where the golf course is? Is it like OKW where your balcony is overlooking course?

Thanks!

None of the first phase buildings overlook the golf course, and from the looks of it, none of the new buildings will be right next to the LBV golf course.

From what I'm seeing now driving through the resort, the closest any of the buildings will be is about 300-400 feet from the side of one of the fairways, with the main road dividing them. And that will only be the westernmost set of 3 or 4 buildings.

Here is a map of the resort...

SSRMap1.jpg

Item #13 on the map is the clubhouse for the Lake Buena Vista course. However, the course itself is to the lower-left of the map, and none of the rooms will actually have a golf course view. The resort was designed so that most of the rooms will have a view of some sort of waterway.

If you look at the map, each resort building is shaped somewhat like the letter "U". The bottom of the "U" is the back of the unit. Most of the guest rooms face the other side, and you'll see that each building is positioned next to a lake or pond.

When you visit in December, the only buildings that will be open are the four in the lower right-hand corner of the map. This region is called Congress Park. Most of the rooms in these 4 buildings face Downtown Disney. Some of the rooms toward the ends will face smaller canals or foliage.

Incidentally, the recently announced "Phase 3" of the resort will consist of 6 more buildings, none of which are pictured in this map. These buildings are supposed to replace the Disney Institute "Fairway Villas", so it stands to reason that many of the units in Phase 3 will have a golf course view. Phase 3 is not scheduled for completion until 2007.

Hope that helps.

Can't find it on the map....

Is it by COngress Parkway?

All the Fireworks Pavilion is, is a railing with five rocking chairs and a map of all of Downtown Disney that you see arcoss from you.

It's located near the Quiet Pool in Congress Park, or, if you're looking at the map, above the T in the "Saratoga Springs" logo in the lower right hand corner of the map. The "pavilion" is the small cleared circle near the railing.

If you were to stand by the railing and look straight out towards Downtown Disney, Planet Hollywood would be at 11 o'clock, House of Blues at 1 o'clock.

The recently announced Pahse 3 (additional 6 buildings) at SSR will be located on the LBV Golf Course. While no news has been released about the layout or exact location of these buildings, they will replace the existing Fairway Villas - leftover from the defunct Disney Village/Disney Institute days- and currently in use to house college CMs at WDW.

The original 12 buildings at SSR are all situated around lakes, but the additional six will likely have a golf course view. None of the original 12 have a view of the course.

The Phase 3 buildings will be about the same distance from the Carriage House area as the final buildings currently iunder construction in Phase 2 of the resort.

The Phase 3 buildings will be located to the left of the map posted in this thread. This map is a little incomplete, since there is a road that branches to the left Broadway which leads to the Fairway Villas. Since that area is presently NOT part of the resort (and is a CM only area), it is not shown on the map at this time. I'm certain it will be added in due time!

Enjoy!

Wouldn't it be neat if they picked you up in front of your room for a tee time? :D

PS":
Did anyone get one of the Mickey Mouse Scotty Cameron Head covers recently?

rjc94080, where do you get the MM headcovers?

Doc, glad to hear that Phase 3 will have golf view. That should make DH happy. We're disappointed that they haven't built Eagle Pines yet, so maybe that will satisfy him in the meantime. Thanks for that info.

I didn't get one but, they were selling them at the pro Shops last month. If you bought any Scotty Cameron Putter, you would get the headcover. There was one with a Golf Mickey and a Magic Kingdom one. Hopefully it will become a regular thing.
