Day 7 – Sunday 18th December

Today woke up at 5:30am then managed to fall back to sleep till 7am we have new guests either side of us and above us. I don’t know which one it was but someone kept going to the toilet all night and the flush is not the quietest of flushes.
Decided to get in the shower and have a quick look on the boards, we have paid for 24 hour connection I will get my money’s worth!
The others were just waking up; we said we would go to Magic Kingdom today as I wanted to go on the bus. In all the times we have stayed onsite we have never got the bus to Magic Kingdom before. Sad I know but it was just something I wanted to do.
While waiting for DD2 and DH to get ready I was just messing around on the net, posting a couple of threads and looking at the 80+ emails that we had. They all got sent into the deleted items!
Left mousekeeping a envelope with a fox’s mint.

We were ready to go about 9:30am, as short walk to the bus stop
day7005.jpg

and then about a 15min wait and we were on our way to Magic Kingdom.
day7004.jpg

It made a change not driving there; it was straight to the entrance, no having to catch the monorail or ferry. Very nice, I like it this way.

There were plenty of people waiting to go through security checks, looks like its going to be busy!
day7006.jpg

Through the turnstile
day7007.jpg

under the station, it was busy.
I have not been on the train for a long time so that’s where we head for. Took a couple of pics from the top
day7009.jpg

Then got in the queue.
day7013.jpg

10 min later we were on our way. We did a full circle.
day7018.jpg

We thought we’d grab breakfast at Main St bakery, but the line said otherwise. No way that we were waiting in that line.
We made our way up Main St
day7019.jpg

To the Noodle station and said that we would eat here when it opened, which was 11am.
day7020.jpg

Onto Tomorrow Land and it was packed, didn’t even look at the wait time for buzz, and went straight onto Carousel of Progress. DD2 wanted to ride Space Mountain, so we gave her a phone and told her to either text or ring us when she was done.

Straight onto Carousel of Progress “It’s a great big beautiful tomorrow”
day7021.jpg

When we got out DD2 was sitting waiting for us, we thought she had been on Space Mountain but she hadn’t the line was huge. She said she’d sent 2 text messages but we hadn’t got them.
We were getting hungry by now so DD2 wanted Hot dog and fries from Cosmic Rays. $8.00
day7023.jpg

We wanted to try the Tomorrow Land Terrace Noodle Station so we watched while she ate…
When she’d finished we walked over to the Noodle Station.
This is what we had
day7032.jpg

I am pleased we tried it but don’t think we’d rush back to eat there again. The rice was very soggy and all clumped together. $16.00
Next we had to go and ride Pirates of the Caribbean.
day7039.jpg

The wait time outside said 5 minutes. That was about right, we were virtually straight on.
day7042.jpg

DD took another line which she said looked shorter, we were fastest, she was on the boat behind us.
day7044.jpg

day7051.jpg

Those text messages that DD2 sent DH eventually came through. A Bit late, pleased that they weren’t sent for emergency purposes.
We had a slow walk down Main St and thought we would pop over the MGM.
On the way out DH spotted Mick Foley from the WWE wrestling federation, we tried to get a photo but he turned away when he saw us trying to take one.
day7058.jpg

We had to get the monorail over to the TTC and then catch a bus from there.
day7059.jpg

It would be fine doing it this way if it was warmer and it wasn’t starting to rain, it was that horrible drizzle type of rain.

day7060.jpg

Stood at the bus stop for 15 more min and then there were a elderly couple with wheelchairs that the bus driver had to get sorted first and to say he was slow was a understatement. Eventually we were on our way to MGM.
day7062.jpg

There were lots of other people with the same idea as us. MGM was heaving too. DD2 ran down to see what the wait times were like for Rock ‘n’Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. 70 min for Rock ‘n’Roller Coaster and 50 min for Tower or Terror, she got a fast pass for Tower of Terror which was for 3:45 and 4:45
While she was doing this we had a look in the shops where we bought a Mickey and Minnie PJ pillows for ourselves. We have them sent back to the resort. They will be there tomorrow to pick up at the resort. Saves us having to carry them all over the park.
We had a look to see what time motor stunt show started. The next one was 4pm it was only 2:30pm
Still that horrid drizzly rain we thought we would have a walk over the star tours.
day7063.jpg

The line for this is bad, it’s saying 30 min and I don’t think so. We have a look in the Tattooine Traders. There is a shirt there that DH likes the look of, it’s a Darth Tater one, he is talking to a French fry and saying “I am your Father” it was $22.00 He never got it after all.
day7065.jpg

Next we walk passed the Muppet 3D and go into the shop on the corner just opposite Pizza Planet. DD2 loves the Muppets and she gets a Kermit the frog and Rizzo the Rat to go with Miss Piggy that she has at home.
day7066.jpg
day7067.jpg

The weather doesn’t seem to put the crowds off today as its still really busy. It’s extra magic hour tonight at MGM studios so we suggest we go back to the room for a while and go back for the extra hour tonight. This way we should get to see Fantasmic and Osborne Lights and DD should be able to ride Tower of Terror in the dark and hopefully no lines.
day7070.jpg

Surprisingly DD2 agrees without much fuss. So out we go back to the bus stop. We waited another 15 min for the bus. We are going to bring the car tonight as we don’t like all this waiting around for buses.
Back to the room we have a few minutes left on the internet so we let DD2 talk to her friends on msn till it runs out.
DH watched a bit TV and I transferred the photos onto the laptop that I had taken today and typed up the notes for the trip report.

We headed back over to MGM in the car. Nobody was on the booth for parking. So straight down and parked at Stage. There was not that much of a line for bag checks. Down to ticket machine where DD2 would not work, she had bent it early in the day but they said that they had fixed it when we were at MGM earlier on, they never, the CM eventually got it working and told us when we got back to the resort to have them change it over.
We grabbed a times sheet and headed up to the information board where ToT was showing a 45 min wait RnR 70 min
Great movie ride was 20 min so we thought we would do that first. It was 6pm and Osborne Lights had just been lit up. We got into the line for GMR and decided that it looked more than 20 min, the line was way outside into the courtyard bit.
Had a wander over the Osborne lights, it was very busy

day7091.jpg

We stuck it out and had a quick walk round. We have been lucky enough to see the Osborne lights before they moved them, the lights for us were a bit of a let down. There was no 3D glasses being handed out, they are really scaled down compared to what they used to be. However if it was your first time seeing them you would be none the wiser and think they were brilliant. The atmosphere was still good.

After the Lights we thought we’d have a walk over to ToT for DD2. It was still showing 50min wait but I don’t think they had changed it. MGM was really really busy tonight there were big lines everywhere.
day7105.jpg

Fantasmic was starting at 7:00pm
DD2 waited in the line for ToT and we sat just outside the entrance to B&TB show. CM’s were saying that Fantasmic was standing room only now. We will give that one a miss then!
There was another showing tonight at 8:30pm maybe we would go to that one. Sitting outside you could here the music and also the lights of Fantasmic.
DD then rang us to say she was done and was walking up from RnR to meet us, the line was still big so we thought we’d grab a bite to eat. Why didn’t we look at the times on the paper we had before trekking all the way over to Pizza Planet only to find that it closed at 6:30pm grrrrrr the only other places that were open were all the ADR type restaurants and they were all due to close soon, it was 7:45pm and most of them closed at 8pm and 8:30pm, so there was no way that we were going to get anything to eat here.
It wasn’t looking very good. The park was due to close at 8pm to non onsite guests. We already had our wristbands on, there was a line just inside of the RnR as they were giving them out there. We thought we would go and see what the wait was like for RnR 30 min for standby and the line for Fast passes was bad! We thought ok 30 min isn’t bad for RnR, then tiredness and hunger got the better of DD and I and we walked out of the line. Just as the fast passes we opened, the times for the fast passes were 9:40pm no thank you. I think we will just call it a night.

day7110.jpg

Walking out up towards Fantasmic entrance we could not believe the line that had formed. I kid you not the line of people waiting to get into see fantasmic. The line was the width of one side of the road and it stretched to the end of the crossroads at the very end of sunset and Hollywood blvd. We made a decision to not come back at peak times! I think this is De Ja Vu though as I can remember saying that the first time we came for Christmas, back in 1998!

Walked back to the car and said that we would just go and eat at Sassougola Float works for dinner.
Back at the resort, DD went to get her card changed, DH went to the room to get our mugs and I went to the food court to order some food.
DD had an individual pepperoni pizza, I had hot dog and fries and DH has cheeseburger and fries - $19.Drinks were courtesy of our refillable mugs.
All fed and watered we washed out our cups and filled them with hot chocolate for the room.
A very short walk and we were in the room, TV on and PJ’s we were in bed, I was shattered, drank my hot chocolate and was fast asleep in no time at all.

Another great day, I love your piccies of the Osborne Lights, I agree that they're not as good as a few years ago, and I miss the glasses too, but they're still very festive :)

Hot chocolate & Pj's after a long day :goodvibes

You really are busy aren't you!

Great report, love the photos,a very busy day for you.I bet you were all ready for your beds.
It'll be interesting to see how the crowds and wait times compare with your Easter trip this year.

:)

Lovely report, I love Orlando but I am definitely not a fan of long lines. I think if you get used to walk on or minimal lines when you see longer lines you just cannot be bothered.
