Day 18 – Thursday 29th December

Going Home Today:cry:

Mixed emotions. Happy to be going home to see DD and the dogs.
I just don’t want to go home to the cold!
Up at 7am ready to check in at DTD at 8:30am
All the cases packed and in the car we were there for 8:20, the line was long enough, but hey it was shorter than the lines in the park!

I recognised somebody standing in the line, it was Goofyish -Tim and family so said hello and a quick natter before we were called to the desk. We were given 62 D, E, and F. I did ask if there were any seats near the front of the plane as the turbulence was bad coming over, apparently it's worse at the back. There were no seats! So $15 lighter we said goodbye to Tim and family who had been told that their plane had not even took off from LGW yet.
In the car and back to the room to do last minute check and to check out of Cypress Pointe resort. There was a gorgeous black hummer in the parking lot so I had to take a picture of it.

When checking out we had $7 something to pay, which was $1.06 for the safe each night and 50c for a local call that DH had made.

We thought we would stop off at DTD to get some last minute bits. We went to get the dogs a T’shirt each from the pet tails.
I sat outside and people watched, the sun was shining nicely, it was warm and we were going home…Typical!
There were lots of people around. Pin trading

Enquiring about DVC?

3 doggy T’shirts later and we were on our way to the next port of call which was Toys R Us up by the Florida Mall. DD wanted a star wars figurine of Hayden Christensen, we were disappointed this holiday with the lack of Star Wars merchandise. Toys R Us never had the figurine, so we went to have lunch in the mall food court. Chinese for DD & I and a steak sandwich for DH. A quick look at the shops and nothing took our fancy, so we thought a look in Costco next.
We had not had a chance to go here before now. DD wanted a thing that you place your I pod in and it plays the music through it, very loudly! We had seen them in the apple store so knew they were good. They were $299 + tax in the apple store here I think we paid $230 including tax. She was a happy bunny.
After Costco I decided to get my nails done. I called into a Nail Salon on South Orange Blossom Trail about 45 mins later and $20 lighter I was done.

It was now time to head for the airport. So up OBT onto the 538 toll road, $1.50 later and we were dropping the car off at Alamo.
No baggage to check in we walked straight through to security. You have to stand in another 25 min line to get through the security checks. Then catch the mini monorail over the departures. We found a seat close to the duty free. There were plenty of places to choose from to eat. Burger King, Outback Steakhouse, Starbucks and places like that.
I just had a look round duty free, trying loads of perfumes, so much so that I forgot which ones were which, so ended up buying myself Eternity by Calvin Klein. You have to pick your duty free up at the gate when you board, so you don’t have to carry it around, which I like.

We were supposed to start boarding at 18:10 gate 85. It was 6pm and DD had just went and got herself something to eat from BK. We thought we’d best take a walk down to the gate just in case they started boarding early.
Wishful thinking!
The departure time at the gate was saying 7pm a while later there was a announcement that they were still waiting for the crew to be dropped off at the airport. They changed the time to 7:40pm departure. Everyone just sat on the floor. Then they made another announcement to say that the crew were still not here. Eventually the crew started showing up, to be met by thunderous applause by some of the passengers.
Then they said when the crew got there that they would take 15-20 min longer to do check etc.
I am pleased I had some crisps and pop in my hand luggage!
They eventually started boarding and we were one of the first rows on the plane as we were at the back.
The seats they had given us were a row of 4. DD scored she had no body sitting next to her so she had room to sprawl out and sleep, sleep she did too, I think she slept most of the flight.
We had been delayed 2 hours. The captain or first officer did make a announcement over the PA that it was not the crews fault but the people that VA use to pick the crew up. They had got the times wrong or something.

Flight was very bumpy again. We had working seat back TV’s this time. I watched Fantastic 4 and Bad news Bears and slept the other time. Food was horrible. BBQ Chicken and mash, Oreo cheesecake. Not very nice. I didn’t take any photos as my camera was still playing up.
Landed at Manchester airport at 9am. It was horrible rain and 2 degree’s and snow!!!! The luggage didn’t take that long to come round. Nobody at customs.
We were on our way to get the bus and car in no time. Took us till 2pm to get home though as they had 50pmh speed limits in quite a few places. Managed to catch a few zzz’s in the car, while DH drove. Swapped over just before Scotch Corner, DH caught a few zzz’s while I drove. DD then had the cheek to fall asleep again and sleep all the way home.

Home to the dogs, DD had gone and got them for us. Had a cup of tea and then DH slept. I kept myself busy for as long as I could. Did some unpacking. I think a few of our cases had been checked although there was no piece of paper in them to say they had been.
Oscar trying on his T’shirt and collar.
