Squirts, Shirts, & Flirts...The Legend Continues (TR started 6-23)

DHS - sci-fi dine-in theater -
50's prime time is always fun.

I would agree with both of these too....Sci-fi has the more intriguing menu for me, but if you are a home cooking kind of person (pot roast, chicken pot pie, etc.) then I would definitely recommend it!

I hope the rumor about TE is wrong!! Just sayin'...:rolleyes1

going to catch up on some stuff and respond then have an update later today to say what we chose for the meals.

candi dear,

please dont spill the beans on our restraunts like you spilled the beans on us getting the dinning plan.

speaking of beans, i made an awesome new chili reciepe this weekend, going to win my chili cookoff with it this year.
First I would call Disney Dining on Teppan Edo !!The only restaurnts in a park not on DDP are the one in Epcot I think it begins with a B and sounds French:lmao:and Rain forsest Cafe in AK !! TE was on ddp in September !!As for Boma try the breakfast it is an awesome buffet !! I too am not into the "weird" foods !! Even though Winkers and Jordan have convinced me to try Kouzzinas !!!:rotfl2:I also like Tony's at MK !! The Lady&Tramp fountain is very cute !!
those are some great suggestions, but did we end up with any of them.
:confused3:rolleyes1

Every year near the end of the calendar year, WDW negotiates contracts with all their 3rd party restaurants. They can't list them on the dining plan until the contracts are signed. So expect Teppan Edo and other Epcot restaurants to start showing up in January. Although I have heard a rumor that TE will not be on the DDP this year.
thanks jordan, we took this into consideration while doing the planning

I'm in!!!! ok, going back to read now. :rotfl:
:welcome: blue, glad to hvae you over.

I think Jordan had mentioned Captains Grille. The family and I ate there in 08.
Very nice and pretty quiet. Menu was pretty varied and sevice was good. :thumbsup2

It is a short walk or boat ride from EPCOT so that could be a plus.
candi and i looked at the captains grille for one of our meals without my parents, but did we pick it?

:goodvibes

Ok a couple of things, as others have said, just because it is a buffet I would NOT count on it being any faster than sit down service. At all. Our experience was actually longer at times depending on the location.

Biergarten is good, if you do want to see the show, which I recommend timing your reservation around, I'd factor the time in for that.

My DH loved the Turkey leg, that thing is HUGE!

Also, the Teppan Edo rumor was there last year too but it ended up on the plan so just check again in Jan. It was a huge hit with my family.

Trails End has been getting pretty mixed reviews, if you are going to go to WCC I'd skip it as the food is kind of similar. If you haven't seen HDDR it is a GREAT family event, and meal and absolutely worth the 2 credits. For me I'd take that over WCC.

For buffets, I'd check out the Cape May Dinner Buffet. Short walk from Epcot WS so not really losing any park time and it gets really good reviews.

The DDP rocks, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so far you seem to have picked alot of restraunts that made the final cut.

i am jazzed up about that turkey leg, cant wait to sink my teeth into it.

trailes end, or WCC which did we choose.

i'm sure you've already gotten lots of suggestions as i'm late but i will still share mine.

MK - the only ADR i'd suggest here is crystal palace but you've already got that taken care of.

EPCOT - teppan edo if you like hibachi is always fun. we also ate at rose and crown once and we loved it. ray especially liked the beer flight there. le cellier is always popular. although for us it's not a must-do - we just don't think it's as good as everyone else does.

DHS - sci-fi dine-in theater. parker would love this i think. the burgers and shakes are good. and 50's prime time is always fun. the food is so-so in my opinion but it's more about the experience. if you do the fantasmic dining package i'd go with mama melrose. i hear bad things about the food at hollywood & vine and it takes 2 credits to go to hollywood brown derby.

AK - tusker house, tusker house and tusker house! we had breakfast here last year and it was soooooo good! great characters and great food - what more do you want? but remember that the characters aren't there at lunch and dinner.

resort restaurants - kona is always a favorite for us. i've had both breakfast and dinner there and both are always very good. 1900 park fare was really fun, too. the characters (cinderella, prince charming, the evil stepmother and stepsisters) there are hysterical and i bet parker flirting with the stepsisters would be SO funny! boma was really good. they have some very unusual things but also just "normal" food too.

well, those are the ones i can think of right now. good luck! and how exciting to be adding the DDP! :goodvibes
how do you do the fantasmic show with the dinning plan? we did pick a restraunt that was elligible for it, but how can we get the seating, i sit more credits for that?

the kona menu looked very good, first time i ever looked at it, never hear anyone talk about anything but there breakfast.

but there dinner looks really good.

I would agree with both of these too....Sci-fi has the more intriguing menu for me, but if you are a home cooking kind of person (pot roast, chicken pot pie, etc.) then I would definitely recommend it!
we ate at scifi on our honeymoon and were not that impressed with it.

I came over via link in Jordan's PTR. Now to go back and read :surfweb:
:welcome:

glad to have yo uon board, jordan is a stand up guy.

I hope the rumor about TE is wrong!! Just sayin'...:rolleyes1
they have good CS over there too...i still want to take the wife to the TE type restraunt we have here, looks like alot of fun, i ate at one before and loved it.

Whens the chili cookoff? Good luck!!
I came in second at a contest I entered two years back.
I will tell you my secret..... I used buffalo instead of ground beef.

Nobody could figure out how I made the meat taste that way. :rotfl:

Hey Dan & Fam! Playing a bit of catch up here with both you and Jordan's PTRs ;) Looks like some great groundwork for the trip - I love those big family trips!!! :woohoo:

Good choices on food reses, hitting some places I'm still looking to sample myself. Speaking of food - when is the chili contest? Hope y'all are having a great holiday so far :santa:

Oh I LOVE buffalo chili! We've been on a turkey or chicken kick with the chili lately but I should do that soon, it's been awhile.

that does soud different and good,

chicken fajita chili is really good.

Chapter 3. Dinning Plan War room.

Well, this weekend was alot of fun, it was the first weekend in a while that we did not really have anything planned, kinda a relaxing weekend before the hustle and bustle of the christmas season tihs week.

As i mentioned earlier, my parents sprung on us about a week ago that we were would be doing the dinning plan, this is a first for them. Normally while we camp there when in the parks all meals we would eat there or if we were in a water park eat there.

But if we did not have anything planned we would spend a decent amount of time going back to the trailer to make meals.

Well my dad decided that he wanted to try out the dinning plan and give my mom a break and just not worry about food at all.

So this saturday was our weekend planning weekend. I made up a rather small calander to do a little planning on.:rolleyes1

DSC09753.jpg

it was 2 feet by 3 feet big.

If you notice it has all the park hours for each day that we are there, when extra hours are the parade times night time shows etc.

Also ready at hand was the laptop to make our reservations, a drink, a sippy cup if i needed a refile (actually that was parkers)

My parents came over for lunch, we had some really good homemade beef barley soup and some great bread candi made in the bread machine. After our stomachs were full, it ws time for the planning...

Here is what we came up with for each day...with a little commentary about them.

We leave June 3rd...take our time traveling down, and arrive on June 6th.

June 5th, camp about an hour away

june 6th wake up early take trailer to FW, try and check in, (which means we ride the bus back to the loop we are in, and my dad picks out his site he likes, and we go back to hte front and he tells them which one)

Set up the trailer, and hang at the pool.

Dinner at Whispering canyone.
we really like there skillet there and will start with a nice buffet, keep count, this is number one of the trip.

June 7th monday.
epcot all day,
lunch CS somewhere.
dinner biergarten (buffet and dinner show)

June 8th tuesday
water park day
lunch CS at water park
dinner Ohana

we love ohana, and i am really pumped about them now having the new sides that they do.

June 9th wednesday
MK
lunch CS somewhere
dinner
liberty tree tavern.
there is conflicting reports that the characters are gone, which is okay we are going for the buffet here ( i think that is 4 buffet type meals in a row so far)

now this is the only night of the trip that does not have spectromagic, so we will have to do something about that, possibly hit MK again later on.

June 10th thursday,
Water park, or other activity.
CS, at a water park or resort somewhere.
dinner at chef mickeys.
thats 5 buffet meals in a row, are ever going to eat normal again and let our stomachs relax. by this time i expect everyone to have gained about 6 pounds of goodness around the mid section... ::yes::

june 11th friday
we have to hit MGM this day, reason being, they only have fantasmic scheduled for the 10th,(no park day for us) the 11th and the 17th(the day before we leave, my dad does not like to do park, likes to get things packed up some)

so MGM it is, and yes it will be refered to as MGM this entire TR
Lunch CS somewhere in park
dinner mama marosas

this was a the only one that we had some disagreaments on.

reasoning was my dad wanted sci fi drive in, but when candi and i ate there on our honeymoon we were not that impressed with it.

it was cool, but food was soo soo.
we wanted 50s prime time this time, and they were on the fence with it, we really liked the mama marosas when we were there for our 1 year, so that is was we ended with this time.

hey what do you now first none buffet TS meal so far, our stomachs can settle a little bit.

June 12 saturday,
DTD day, and hopefully Disney quest.

for lunch we will just have something DTD that we can find CS for on the dinning plan, did not see earl of sandwich on it online yet hopefully they put them on soon.

this is the night we split up.

Candi and i have early reservations at the luau. :drinking1
now if are stomachs have recovered from the food so far, we might eat, otherwise, we will just drink our dinner.

kidding, we will eat as well.

so grandma and grandpa are going to take parker to dinner,

the wave is there restraunt for this night, they said the menu looked really good.

after dinner they will more than likely take parker to the chip and dale sing along after dinner, and candi and i will need to walk off our dinner, so we will head back to DTD and do some more stuff at disney quest just us adults.

june 13th sunday

we take the day off and head to my grandparents about an hour and half away for the day.

lunch will be with them somewhere, and on the wa yhome we are going to stop at the carribean beach resort to have CS dinner there.

june 14th monday

we go to animal kingdom for the morning, this is our least favorit park so we will just be here most likely to just after lunch some time, and then head back to epcot.

dinner will be at coral reef

everyone is really excited about this, first time we will eat here, parker will love the fish

since we would have already spent a full day at epcot we will see how late we stay hopefully we can watch illuminations again.

june 15th tuesday
another off day, we will either do anothe rwater park, or sea racers and campground stuff.
lunch will be on the fly where we land.

dinner time,
so my parents can catch up on the TS meal they are missing when we go to the luau, they are going to hvae a nice meal out.

they were looking around at 2 TS places, and i suggested the california grill, i said it is something they have never done and looked like fun, and something they might not ever do again, so why not try it out.

my dad was excited for anice evening with his wife, so that is where they are going.

candi parker and i had the evening to ourselves tonight and a few options for meals.

the first thing that popped up was the wave no
then we looked at cap may nah, too much seafood for candi.
then i said how about ohana again, candi said sure why not

i was pumped.:thumbsup2

then i said well lets look at a few more menus.

i stumbled across kona, said i hear good things about breakfast there lets look at the dinner menu.

the first thing we see is the teriyaki beef stuff, and candi said ooohhhh yeah. lets eat there.

so it is kona for us three.

(later that night we even had to look at the menu again for her...she was drooling.)

june 16th wednesday
MK again, my dad already made reservations for crystal palace a week ago so we did not have to do anything else.

so it is CP for the character breakfast.

we have 2 CS for lunch and dinner because we are not using one the day we arrive so we have an extra.

between our first MK day and this one, we should hit everything we want, but if we have time in the evening and want to go somewhere else we can it all depends on if we see spectromagic any other time this trip, this will be the last time to do so.

June 17th thursday.

this is our last full day before we leave so it will be a take it easy day, we could do a water park, but most likely we will hit up DTD one more time, and relax around the FW pool

dinner is another new one, it is park fare, candi is really excited for the princess dinner.

she wants to ge tparker a prince charming outfit so we will see about that one.

here we are deep in thought planning stuff out, parker is all laughs.
DSC09754.jpg

So there you have it, of our 11 TS meals (one has a 2 TS credit)

we have 8 buffets

and 3 regular TS meals.

hopefully we have a tail wind on the way home otherwise the truck might not be able to pull home the extra weight around our mid sections.

hope you guys enjoyed it, and feel free to chim in and give comments.

 I too was just thinking how serious everyone was while doing your ADR's but yes, it is serious business. Loved the size of your planning calendar! :lmao:
Biergarten=yum...good choice there!
I agree with you on Sci-Fi too....fun atmosphere but the food is eh...except for the BLT soup! :thumbsup2
Primetime is fun though and we liked the food.
Never been to Kona, Mama Melrose, Ohana :scared1: or Coral Reef
Chef Mickey's will be fun for Parker :)
Crystal Palace is good too....I really have a thing for scrambled eggs anywhere at Disney. It is something I never eat anywhere except on property...they probably have tons of butter!

Tracy

:rotfl2: Love the picture!!! You guys were seriously down to business!!

All of your ADR's look great. One thing about Liberty Tree Tavern is that yes, they took the characters out of that one. They are temporarily putting them back while Crystal Palace is being refurbished but that ends February 13th I believe. You could double check and see if they decided to keep the characters after that. Maybe they will! :confused3 I think a lot of people were upset that they took them out in the first place. Also, LTT is an "all you can eat" but not a "buffet". They bring it to your table rather than you serving yourself. But when we ate there last February the service was very fast! So, if your dad is worried about time it still shouldn't be a problem. :thumbsup2

Parker is always so happy!

We went to Kona Cafe on our date late this past summer and loved it. Here's a link to the installment in my TR with pictures of what we had. I think it's a good choice and you'll like it.

That was the funnest 15minutes I've had all day!! I love looking at other people's plans and seeing how they compare to what I'd do (or not)!!

I so love that your dad sprung this surprise on you, and that you get 11 (:thumbsup2) TS and CS credits!! That's amazing!!! I love all your choices, but esp. that you're doing buffets.- that way everyone can have something to enjoy.

HA!! When you said you can Candi would have to "walk off your dinners" I immediately thought that you might have to sleep off your dinners. :lmao: How super you guys will tag team with Parker, so you can each (set) get a night alone. Nice! :thumbsup2

I love your huge planner- it's almost identical to mine!! The hard part is reducing the essentials to pocket-sized to carry around.

All your picks look great. I love how serious you all look in the picture. ADR's are serious business!
it was serious business, i had to be sneaky to get the meals we wanted, by tellingmy parents ahh i wouldnt eat there, i heard bad things about it or i have heard great reviews on that place.
Yay for ADR decision making! Looks like some yummy choices.

we are really excited for them. hope to have lots of pics as well.

cant have a small calander now can we.
we absolutly love ohana, there is just something so good about it and a fun atmosphere.

this will be his first chef mickeys we had a reservation there last year, but canceled it.

Love the picture. Mostly of Parker having a good time.

That's a lot of eating!

You weren't kidding about the buffets!
the funny thing was no one told him to smile, he just looked u pand saw candi with the camera and we heard him say cheeeeessssseeee.

we all started laughing afterwards.

yep my dad likes those buffets.

:rotfl2: Love the picture!!! You guys were seriously down to business!!

darn, i hope that they get feedback from peopleand they do tell them to keep em t here.
i know it was a bring it to us family style, but i consider those buffets if i dont have to stop and can ask for refills.
::yes::

thanks for the link, that bread does look good, we are both eyeing the terriyaki beef, and the almond chicken.

might get those and split.

thanks, it took us about 2 hours to complete it, and we always got the meals and the times we wanted within about 15 minutes of the time we entered in the computer.

actually it is 11 meals, but we have 12 credits we are just using a signature TS 1 night.

yep we might have to sleep off that dinner for sure.
:lmao:

just kidding we dont go that overboard, but then again if the punch is good, wifey might get a little tipsy.
;)

i am going to make daily cards so we can take those with us, they will have the CS locations and menus on the back for us.
