Squirts, Shirts, and Flirts, The Legend Continues 2 weeks in FW(wrap up #2 new 11-17)

I actually know the answer to the flamingo question. It's because they turn pink as they eat the pink shrimp in their diet. The babies haven't had time yet to eat enough of it.

That elephant looks dead.

I"m going to see DeVine yet! glad you caught her.

the morning show had started, and this was the first time i have ever seen it take place at the front, i have always seen it at the tree every other trip, so not sure what was going on there.

I've seen that in a couple of TRs now. :confused3

the baby elephant was getting ready to scratch and inch

got that perfect position.

:rotfl2:

trivia time

does anyone know why these little fellows are pinkish color when the babies are white?

It's from eating shrimp. Or some kind of crustacean anyway.

we were told that the rhinos eat 150lbs of hay each night.

I'm sure it's no coincidence that you put this statement just before a picture of yourself and Parker. You guys are big eaters.

sadly pohcahontas (sp) was not out yet.

That is sad. Rafiki's not nearly as nice to look at.

so what happened next that was a first for me and candi at AK, and something we plan to do each trip, it is 2 things actually.

Hmmm? :scratchin

I'm coming out from lurking in the bushes on your TR b/c I just wanted to mention..

its 12:38pm where I am right now, so that qualifies as "afternoon"...

so you can proceed with your update...

I'm just saying....:lmao:

Good one- Hey I am near where you are.

What she said.

If you read between the lines, it comes through loud and clear. :rotfl2:

yay, an update

Cool pic of Devine

I could not see her face in those 2 pics either

Parker looks so cute excited on the train

So, what day of your trip are you? :surfweb:

Love the baby elephant pictures.

I couldn't find Devine's face either in the first few pictures. But the picture you got of her face is beautiful.

Can't wait to find out y'all did next that you had never done.:confused3

The bus thing doesn't make sense to me either :confused3

Looks like so fun at AK! Rafiki's Planet Watch looks like fun. We have only been there once and that was nearly 6 years ago. Funny that you saw Divine! I have always heard about her and we saw her 2 different times our last time at AK. I think she is out more than ever!

Can't wait to hear more!

DUDE! It was so loud, I'm feeling like Quasimoto! <insert Glenn's famous bellringer smilie>

flamingo's are pink from carotene in their diet. I remembered from Levi & Lexi's Science last year.

Looks like you're having a great early AK morning. I wish that I could see DeVine at least once!

Hey! I'm in that same time zone you know!!! :rotfl2:

No wonder Parker is excited about riding that train.........it apparently launches you straight up like Mission Space does........ :rolleyes1

i think we have seen her on every trip so far, we dont always stay long to watch, but we do get a picture...because sort of like a DIS meet, if you dont take a picture, it didnt happen.
:thumbsup2

the planet watch is hit or miss on things to do, i think alot depends on if they have any animals in the hospital there and what they are doing to them.

but the train ride back is alot of fun, especially to see theanimal houses they have.

the things we learn from kids science experiments. you can use that knowledge if your driver on the safari ever asks you what the answer is.
:thumbsup2

you havent seen her yet?
it seems like she is out more in the morning hours behind hte tree of life by the area where you can stop and play the drums.

i noticed that picture was sideways after i posted it, and was to lazy to go back, but it does look sort of normal doesnt it?

Great shots of the animals!

Aren't flamingo's pink because of all the shrimp they eat?
bingo. :thumbsup2 i wonder if humans can turn a color of a certain food if they eat enough of it?
:scratchin

I knew you'd come through for me! Been a long time since we've seen that one!

its also been a long time since glenn did an update. JK, he updates more regularly than i do, must be all that activia he eats to stay regular.

I have some sad news.

My grandpa that everyone so willingly prayed for over the last week or so, passed away on Saturday evening.

the procedure that they did on him a week before was helping and he was starting to get better. well early saturday morning, they are not sure if he had a blood clot that caused a heart attack, or if it was another reason, but his heart stopped saturday morning. after working on him, they were able to get a heart beat back. he had some issues after that happened, and was being helped along with machines to stay alive...

well the machines could not fully help him, and God called him home saturday evening.

it is never easy to loose a loved one, but the family is doing okay. i talked with my grandma last night and she sounded well, she is hurting but her spirits were up.

the family is happy that he is not feeling any pain anymore and is now well.

One blessing from this is that my grandma will now move back up here to be by the family and will be able to see her great grand children more.

I am happy for all the memories that I have of him, and for having the pleasure to know him for as long as I did.

he loved trains, and worked with the railroad for his entire career. parker loved to see his train pictures on the wall. he had such a great time with parker as well, and they loved to give each other hugs.

he was a kidder, and enjoyed teasing candi...saturday night, she said that it was a great feeling to know that grandpa already knows if we are having a boy or a girl and is smiling down with just one more thing to tease her about. he had a great spirit about him, and while it is sad he is gone, he did not want people to morn him, but celebrate his life...so when they come up north later this week, we are going to plan a celebration of his life.

thank you all for the prayers and the thoughts that you have given in the past, and for those in the future as well.

a few pictures of him.

on our visit this last summer while in FL

these were of him with parker while parker was about 5 months old.

Dan, I am so sorry for your loss. It is never easy losing a loved one. I lost my dad 2-1/2 years ago and I still miss him (in fact we went to see George Strait on Saturday night and it made me think a lot about my dad because George was his favorite singer and I shed a few tears when he sang one particular song).

I am glad that grandpa is no longer in pain, and you have an added Angel looking over you, Candi, Parker and the new baby.

I send you a big , my friend.

Dan, Candi, Parker and baby to be,

So sorry for your loss! I am going to say a prayer for your family.

:grouphug:
