a little update on our hawaii trip.
about 2 weeks ago, my MIL told me to check our reservations on alaska airlines for our flight that one of our legs of the trip was cancelled, so i did and sure enough it was.
but that was not the only one.
of the 4 legs (1 stop each way, so 2 legs out and 2 legs coming home) 3 of them were cancelled.
not just a cancelation where you could pick another flight an hour before or after cancelled, like no morning flight to the west cost in the morning so when you did arrive there, you were stuck there for 12 hours before your flight out canceled.
i was worried, but a planner all the way, i got online and found a new set of flights that would work for us.
only thing was, we would leave 1 day early, and come home one day later...but i was lazy and didnt call to change the reservation yet...just had some other things to do.
well this last week a rep from the airline called and wanted to let me know that the flights had changed.

we told her we knew that and wanted to know why they did not email us, she said it was because they were backlogged, and like to call in person to reschedule your trip instead of emailing you.
okay that is nice, so she started telling me some options, and i said well i already have new flights picked out, ill give you the numbers.
i gave her all the numbers and within 2 minutes she had me confirmed on new flights and seats picked and everything.
so now, we leave on a tuesday, spend the night OR leave the next morning and get to maui,
we come home on a friday spend the night in WA and arrive home on saturday...
that will work out great because parker can rest inbetween the long flights, and we dont have an overnight flight to try and get him to sleep in those comfy airline seats.
before i could tell the lady that i had hotels all lined up where we wanted to stay those nights...she said and as an apoligy we will give you free hotel stays in those cities that you are staying in.
i was excited, and so was candi...and she said because you had to go through this, we are going to give you a 200 credit for another flight with us...i said thank you.
(the reason the flights schedules were changed, was because they redid there flying schedule for the spring when we booked we were on a winter schedule)
10 minutes later the same ladies calls back and informs me that we were so helpful and she enjoyed talking to me and my wife on the phone that she upped our credit to 400 dollars.
this was exciting, but then she explained that she was giving us 400 for each of us...meaning she put a 1200 credit on our account for future air travel.
so now we just have to decide where we want to fly.
do we want to fly me and candi to hawaii again next year to stay with her sister for a week, meaning it will pretty much cost us nothing to visit out there.
our pick somewhere in the continential US that we would have to pay for a hotel still.
im leaning toward the islands.
so my laziness of not calling and changing our flights right away worked out very well for us.
