Squirts, Shirts, and Flirts, The Legend Continues 2 weeks in FW(wrap up #2 new 11-17)

Hey Dan! Class is over for the semester which means more Dis time (between studying for exams)!

Star Wars definitely makes the park much busier, I would never go there unless I was going specifically for the Star Wars stuff, too many people!

FYI, just started my new PTR. ;)

May 2011 - Flowers and Star Wars and Harry, oh my!

oh great everyone else will be happy that is why i have been delaying my updates because i didnt want you to get to far behind, now that you have more dis time i can go ahead and get an update going.
:thumbsup2
in anticipation i uploaded the next batch of photos yesterday.

Chapter 28. UP UP UP we go.

our next day was Saturday June 13th, wow almost 6 months ago to the date.:sad2: i guess i need to get working on this more...but in my defense, we have been busy, and parker has some tonsilitis (sp) that he is getting over, and we are getting ready for my birthday on sunday so i have a few excuses. and of course the holiday parties have begun as well...but none the less, it is update time.

so we sleep in till about 8:00 and get ready for DTD...our first stop is the christmas store, but no nothing jumps out at us yet...so we continue on to here.
DSC01429.jpg

i get parker out so i he can pick out all of his pieces for the potato head box, and i can get packing...we were thinking ahead here and he got a second potato head body while we were at home for like 4 dollars so we did not waste box room with another one...with all of the pieces in hand i got a table and started my work. and parker went to check out all the toys.
DSC01430.jpg

now in all of our 3000 plus pics form the trip, i can not find the one i took of the box afterwards, but it was packed up about 5 times, each time finding the weak spots and then taking it apart to fill in extra items where there was unused air...when i took it up to the lady. she checked if over and lifted it and gave me a nod of appreciation for my handy work, that sucker was heavy.

next was the WOD store...we had a good time in here getting parker some stuff for christmas that we knewhe was going to love.
he found the train that he has at home around our christmas tree, and didnt understand why it was there...he tried to take this one home with him as well.
DSC01433.jpg

i thought it was funny, and good how he put it back where it belonged, he almost got it to stand up but we helped him at the end.

here is a short video of it.

while we were finishing up in the lego store (we had a gift card to use up there) parker and nana were outside building a car to race down the ramp.
DSC02130.jpg

i think this area was the one that the kids get to sit on top of the tables and build stuff.
DSC02132.jpg

we were all getting hungry but we saw something else we wanted to do first.

we headed to the flights of wonder.everyone was excited it for candi, can you see it on her face.

DSC01439.jpg

i think it was a combo of nervouse and not sure about what we were going to experience while up there.

pretty soon everyone was loaded up and were taking flight.

here is some info that was pretty neat as were taking off at the beginning, it is a short video

the ground below showing you what direction you are looking

looking towards MK

towards epcot, you can make out a good amount of this.
DSC01454.jpg

this direction you can see MGM, TL, AK, swan dolphin, and some other stuff i cant make out in the background. also right above MGM you can make out the ski tower of blizzard beach.

DSC01455.jpg

towards the disney institute i believe it is called.

and the other side of DTD

candi was starting to come around a little once we arrived at the top.
DSC02144.jpg

the captain took that picture,

a funny story while we were at the summit of the trip, he said okaynow everyone can walk around to get pictures of all sides, well, some people took this is just walk around...the other side opposite us started moving with us, and our side all stopped to take pictures well there side didnt, they all bunched together, there was about 6 or so of us on one side and a good 10 on the other, well what happened, the whole caged area we were in tilted there way about 4 feet, the captain quickly said, okay you you and you, pointing to some on the other side, get over there right now and balance us out, after that, he told everyone okay lets all take 5 steps then stop, and we repeated that all the way around.

kinda scary when it happened but also kinda funny, and that was the icing on the cake, which made up candis mind that she was good and didnt want to go up in this every again.

when my dad asked her if she liked it she said flatly nope. so she actually thought it was cool to see what we saw, but said that she didnt like the experience if it being a little wobbly when up there.

if you have never seen pictures of what it looks like up there, hope you enjoyed it, if you have then hoped you still enjoyed seeing them.

Wow! Love the pictures from the balloon. I would do this in a heartbeat. DH, not so much he doesn't like heights. Everything looks so pretty from up there.

Loved the video of Parker picking up the train. Does he pick up his toys at home and put them in the right spot?

AWESOME!! Very awesome pictures!! And see, with stuff like that, I don't even need to go! :lmao:

Nice Update! Good work on the Mr. Potato Head parts. Need to remember that for future reference if I ever need it! Love the pictures of the balloon ride. I'm not doing my usual picking on you here, but they call this ride Flights of Wonder too? Isn't that the name of the bird show in AK?:confused3 Strange they would name something else the same thing.

I love looking at the perspective, and how all of Disney is laid out from above. When you drive around on all those roads, it is hard to realize how close certain things are to each other. I couldn't tell if you had any of OKW in the pictures of SSR and POFQ. Will have to study it a little more and see if I can tell.

I would probably have been chivalrous :rolleyes1 and stayed behind on the ground with Candi so she wouldn't have been tentative about it all. :thumbsup2 Not sure how I would be able to handle being up there myself. I'm not afraid of heights, and I can fly no problem, even look down from high buildings as long as I know something solid is there. It is more a tentative feeling of edges. I probably would have jumped when the balloon started to tilt, and yes laughed about it after. I don't mind things like drops on ToT because I'm in a seat and know I'm really not going anywhere. In that balloon, really not sure what that would have felt like. I would have spent a lot of time looking "out" in the distance instead of straight down probably. Sounds like Candi and I are in sync when it comes to that ride.

Love the update! I almost did the balloon ride in October, but my husband didn't seem too thrilled to do it! I think when we got back in May I am going do it without him and buy the Mr. Potato Head I wanted!

FYI, started my trip report!

WOW what a great view form up there. You get a pretty good view fromthe top of summit plummitt at BB too.

It was on my let's do list but alas it never got done. Once when I was at DTD I saw the balloon coming down and it was wobbling a bit more that I expected. The whole tilting thing would hace gotten me too. as soon as you started describing people walking around I knew they would bunch and you would tilt. :scared1: I don't mind the heights, kinda like Marv, but the falling potential is what would get me.

Candi is waaaay braver than me !!I woodn't give it a try !!!:scared1:The pix are great though !!! The little part with the LOPSIDED thingie is just:scared1::eek::scared1:

So Lessa has inspired you to get going with this TR!Hmmmmm !!!

Those pictures are awesome dude! Thanks for the labels. :thumbsup2

I remember you telling me that story of the balloon tipping a little and having to balance everyone out.

Happy Early Birthday :dance3:

The view from balloon looks so awesome

had no idea there was a cage around you. That would make me feel a ton better if we ever decide to go up in balloon :goodvibes

That is hilarious about the tilting....maybe not at time to you guys, but funny now, am sure

Yeah, I am probably too big of a chicken to get on the balloon, I am the girl who clung to the side of the mountain balling my eyes out because I thought I was going to fall to my death and that was while I was on firm ground, no way I would go up in a balloon. Candi has guts though, good for her! :thumbsup2

Thanks a lot for the pictures from up there! I am not sure, I ever want to go up with that balloon! I can realte to Candi quite well with that...

I think the building you labeled "Disney Institute" is actually the Team Disney Orlando building - the administrative head quarters of WDW. The Disney Institute used to be where SSR is now, as far as I know.

This is the Team Disney Building.

When i saw that the cage goes up so high I was almost convinced that maybe someday I would be willing to try the balloon. ut then you said it tilted when people bunched up and - nope - I'm convinced I belong on the ground. Thank you for risking your life in order to get those pictures for those of us who will never make it up there! :thumbsup2

thanks, i was worried that stuff would turn out too blurry since it is far away, but i was pretty pleased with how the pictures turned out...

yep he does pick up his toys at home, and he knows where they go, he is very good at putting stuff away for us.

AWESOME!! Very awesome pictures!! And see, with stuff like that, I don't even need to go! :lmao:
it might get you a little nervous going up, but i think you would actually like it, it is very very cool.

i have read that some people have asked the CM's if they need a body and some say yes some say no, so i just didnt put one in, and didnt ask that way you cant get in trouble for dissobaying them.

no thanks for calling me on it, and not making fun of me, it is actually called

characters in flight i believe...i have a picture of it, but did not post it of the name...i just typed it wrong.

i thought i could make that out in the pictures with cirque in them but im not sure if that is it or not.
:confused3

well there is certainly a different feeling that you are used to, i have been to many observation towers and such but it is a very different feeling form those when the item you are in is moving around "somewhat" freely.

Love the update! I almost did the balloon ride in October, but my husband didn't seem too thrilled to do it! I think when we got back in May I am going do it without him and buy the Mr. Potato Head I wanted!

i think you should go for it, you would like it....as far as the potato head try to resit putting the body in to take up room, and dont be afraid to pack and repack the pieces to get more in. use larger items that have the extra slots in the bottoms of them to pack smaller items into and so forth.

i will be over there shortly.
:thumbsup2

yes you do, i always like going up there to see out as well, it gives yo ua good view of stuff on that side of the property.

well on the bright side if you did fall, there is a good amount of water to catch you under the balloon.

Candi is waaaay braver than me !!I woodn't give it a try !!!:scared1:The pix are great though !!! The little part with the LOPSIDED thingie is just:scared1::eek::scared1:

i think you could handle it rose.:upsidedow

not really, well i hope to get more updates done quicker, i will try to finish up this day and hte next day before christmas.

I remember you telling me that story of the balloon tipping a little and having to balance everyone out.

you guys should do it on your next trip, is trent scared of heights or would he ride it.

candi still states she didnt like it, but im sure she had a good time.

i remember that, :lmao:

i think it helped that i talked her into it, i kept telling her that we would prob not pay to do it on our own, so might as well as long as dad is offering to pay for it.

Thanks a lot for the pictures from up there! I am not sure, I ever want to go up with that balloon! I can realte to Candi quite well with that...

ahh thanks you are right, i new i prob had it wrong but that was the only name htat i could think of at the time to type.

well i think that it normally is okay, but our group on our side just wnated to keep taking pictures and hte other side not so much, they were more worried about moving around and going back down.

I just read the entire TR. What a great trip so far. Parker is so big now...

We are definitely going to schedule a ride in the balloon. I love your photos! Want to take some of my own now! :woohoo:

Hi Dan! Happy Birthday!!!

Parker is so cute trying to put that big box away!

Good job on the potato head packing! Practice makes perfect, huh?

I so want to take that balloon ride!!! I have a regular balloon ride on my dream list - that would be a good start - I've been parasailing thanks to DS making be go and I loved it!!! Now the tipping thing - Hmmm, if a whole bunch of people stand on one side, the balloon will tip - ya think???:headache: I wonder why there are always people in every crowd who just can't think for themselves! :lmao:
