Springtime Surprise Weekend (April 13-16, 2023)

Man - flight prices are INSANE for this April race. I registered on a whim, and did grab a hotel room, but the flights seriously might break this race for me. I'm going to look into alternative airports, but then the cost to get back/forth to Orlando might equal out.

Prices tend to be expensive this far out, then fall a bit, then rise as the date gets closer. Might be worth either waiting a bit or booking on an airline that doesn't charge change fees. I usually book Southwest and then as they have sales through the year I keep rebooking my flights for lower amounts. The difference is paid back in travel funds that I just use for the next trip. I shaved off $145 from the Wine & Dine flights this way.

And now that the SWA credits don’t expire, this method is even better

I feel your pain! Im going to end up booking and hoping for the rates to drop. I grabbed Pop to help offset the cost of the flight.

That's because this one is so close to Easter which is unusual. They are so expensive that time of year we started going during summer instead and cut the cost by half, even though we prefer the Spring weather. We had extra credit to use though (from covid) which is why we are able to go this Easter.

That's why I have started flying in and out of Tampa. Getting through security is easier also.

How is the transporation from Tampa to Orlando? Do you rent a car? Take a shuttle? Other?

I always rent a car for Disney and second using Tampa. It will add some drive time but security is much better, especially if you are flying out.

I'm not aware of any shuttle options but I also never really looked. You may want to ask on the Transportation board here or do a search.

I'm mostly just curious. I have decent flight options from here to Orlando that aren't as expensive as others seem to run into.

So I just went to check/change my POT for this weekend, and I noticed that they added some questions that hadn’t been there for my initial registration:

-Are you a member of any Affinity Groups (AP, DVC, CM)? - this had usually been on other registrations, but it wasn’t on this one, and now it is one question - select all that apply
-How many runDisney weekends have you participated in?
-What distances have you ran?
-Staying on Property?
-Who are you traveling with? (Alone, Other Adults, Families with Children)

Probably decided to streamline the process by removing those questions to cut back on the comments on not having enough time to fill out the form before sell out

Curious to see if not touching these questions will matter. Because I’m guessing that a lot of people won’t see it unless they go into change their POT or have a problem. Which not everyone will.

Probably not

I got an email a while back after all my issues had been fixed saying that attention was required Re my registration and then I saw it was these questions... I'm hoping they are for optics and I don't need to mess with my friends registration to add these answers in

They certainly are. I am playing the waiting game. I can pay it, but I'd sure rather not.

MCO is downright reasonable if you are pre-check eligible. I've let my Clear membership lapse, but this is one of the airports where I was happy to have it even with pre-check. (The others are SEA and SFO)
