Springtime Surprise Weekend 2025 (April 3-6)

Good to see everyone this morning. I went over and got in line to see Mrs. I, and managed to beat the cut off for that photo. The other characters I did were Mr. incredible, and the Mandalorian. I paused my watch for those two just to try to get a sense of what my pace would’ve been without the long wait times. Looks like around 2hrs and 10 minutes.
Saw Galloway near the finish line and thanked him for RWR.
Hamstring was a non-factor, for those who had asked. The temps, extra lbs, and my overall lack of conditioning were factors.
Temps weren’t too bad, but I should have left the tights in the room.
Overall, fun race and fun to do considering I never expected to be participating.

So glad you had a good run.

Great morning! Not sure if I am more proud of my races or managing to get to two (like in a row!) morning meet-ups! Nice to see you all. The races were what I thought they would be given my medium attention and effort in workouts this winter. Always hard to get rededicated after Dopey. But I went into the weekend (before I felt the heat and humidity) contemplating trying for a new POT time. The one I have been using is close to being outdated.

This morning I smartly backed off that plan and just ran for fun. However at mile 6 I was feeling good enough to push and all though no POT I did get a solid negative split and put up my second best time for a Disney 10-Miler. I am very happy with that.

Oh, one other thing. As I am often to do when solo in the corrals; I snoop… Listening to conversations around me to pass the time. There was a small group of runners counting up their runDisney races. Inspired me to do the same. Now this was 4:30am math but I went through my list twice and today was my 50th runDisney race! Kinda cool and now I will set my sights on getting to 100

Oh, one other thing. As I am often to do when solo in the corrals; I snoop… Listening to conversations around me to pass the time. There was a small group of runners counting up their runDisney races. Inspired me to do the same. Now this was 4:30am math but I went through my list twice and today was my 50th runDisney race! Kinda cool and now I will set my sights on getting to 100

Great seeing you stop by this weekend! Congrats on 50, I’ve wanted to add them all up for a while, maybe I will. I’ve been afraid that the math will lead to the $$ spent and I’d prefer to ignore certain stats

Nice to see everybody morning! I had a good run …14 minutes faster than last year! DH made it to the finish line in 2:29, not bad considering he could hardly walk in February and is about 4 weeks post injection in his hip.

Only pic I stopped for was Remy…he’s so cute!

DD reported from Corral A that she saw a runner enter the corral, then peel off a fake A bib to uncover her actual not-an-A bib underneath. Guessing she photocopied someone’s A bib for corral entry but wanted to run with her own bib number so her photos would link???


Loved the no water station on the DHS path this year…much less congestion!

Still wish Disney would do more in Galaxy’s Edge…stormtroopers, droids, more characters, etc.

Going by individual races and not weekends this was my 22nd & 23rd in person races…. Wow!!!

Not to mention virtual short series in 19, 20, 21, an individual medal for 22 and the upcoming 25 series as well as the 2020 wine & dine virtual 5k & 10k

Up next is just the 10k for wine and dine and already feeling FOMO for not doing the 5k

I heard from someone that Brooks has been sending scout runners in to check out runDisney’s operation from a runner’s perspective and then making suggestions, including moving that stupid water stop.

I hope they make suggestions about some of the IT issues next

I’ve done 31 in-person runDisney races, for a total of 218.5 official miles and 244.5 unofficial miles (as measured by my watch)

I kept having to re-count my races, so I finally put the tally in my signature last time I cleaned it up. (Thanks for the reminder to update it!) I've done 42 rD races as of yesterday's 10K.

I had a great race weekend for a couple of reasons, one of which has nothing to do with running. I’m hoping to be able to resurrect my training journal by next weekend with a race weekend recap!

OK y’all made me make a list. If my memory is working today since Princess 2017 it’s -

54 races over 23 weekends
4 Castaway Cay 5K when it was an actual cruise thing
7 Castaway Cay 5K as an unofficial fun run
12 virtual assorted distances in the times we don’t talk about

This was my first race so that’ll clock in at 6.2. Loved every minute. Didn’t run at the pace I was hoping for but I beat the balloon ladies.

We’re coming back in the fall. This was also my longest race I’ve ever done. Started getting running while training for this. My wife are going to be doing more of these races. I didn’t know anything about them until a few years ago. Congrats to all!

I think it’s 17 for me? Two each at DL and WDW pre-covid, 2022 and 2025 Dopey, 2023 Springtime Challenge, 2024 DL 10k and half.

I missed my wife's size by about 30 seconds this morning!

Wasn't sure when the shoes might drop, so logged on, saw they were there. They had her size in stock. Went to add to cart and realized I had to create an account. Did that, and by the time I finished registering and refreshed the page, OOS.

Ah well, I suppose it wasn't meant to be!

If it helps there is supposed to be a few more styles coming out later this year at least. So you’ll probably have a second chance at this. Since I would guess they’ll restock everything but the Springtime Surprise shoe when the new style drops then.
