Springtime Surprise Weekend 2025 (April 3-6)

I haven't seen Dopey2020 here this morning. Did he get in earlier?
In for the challenge, I caved to the club runDisney money grab last year and have been stress free for the past several registration days.
I hope everyone got their race this morning, looks like it wasn’t too bad considering how things have gone in the past.

Kinda surprised that only the 5K and 10K are sold out!
I ended up just signing up for the 10K - I will probably have FOMO on race weekend but it's just more $$ than I should spend right now. It will be spring break for us so it will be good for me to be more "family focused" than race focused anyhow.

I'm in for the challenge, thus completing my registration for a perfect runDisney season. It's hilarious to me that what started as "I'm going to try to take this year mostly off" turned into registering for all 19 races in both parks. 🤣 I blame my running group who are the worst enablers ever. So, here we are. I hope I can stay healthy and that my job doesn't fire me for being out so much.

Ok enablers… Please convince me, or not, that the Spring Time Surprise races should be in my 2025 objectives. I did the Challenge in 2023 and 2024. I know that I will be able to complete the distances and that I will not push my speed because of the heat and the character stops. I have no race planned next year and have no clue what I want to accomplish. I have been in maintenance since June and my last speed objective was at the beginning of April.

ETA: I am also considering the 10M as a standalone event instead of the Challenge

The fact that the Challenge (and the 10M) is still available is the Universe's way of saying you should sign up. :)

Do it!! And then write another awesome recap!

This is very sound logic.

FWIW, the 10 miler has been slow to sell out in previous years. The first one, I think I registered around a month or two out from race weekend. I need to get through some expensive home projects over the next couple weeks before committing to another race, so I’ve been holding out so far… but in Disney Math the cost of registration barely registers compared to my project expenses, which feels like why bother waiting - just go for it lol!

Ok, let’s see. It will hopefully be a bit cooler since it is at the beginning of April. Good bling! Access to all the treats Disney World has to offer, fun meet-ups, character stops and good race-side entertainment!

Most importantly the chance for you to write another great recap that we can all read to sooth the pain of the and of another runDisney season!

You should do the challenge

I just registered for the 10M! I was registered for the Marathon Weekend half but had to cancel the trip due to serious family illness. Assuming I have better luck this time, this will be my first RunDisney race. I love the 10M distance and am very excited, and looking forward to learning a lot from all of you!

Well my first PR in near a decade combined with registration still being open and the high of a good race weekend for me. And the themes enticing me. Has resulted in me coming back for the Challenge after saying this was a one and done for me. Whoops.

Whether or not I make it will be dependent on finances. But I at least have a slot.

Well we officially registered for the 10 mile during the springtime surprise weekend… first ever run Disney event… flying down Friday and flying home Monday (from Toronto area) super excited.. slightly nervous.. casual runners but can’t wait to experience the weekend.. learning lots from this section of the boards
