Springtime Surprise Weekend 2025 (April 3-6)

I just registered for the 10 Miler!! I'm glad it was still available because I wasn't ready to make a decision back in August. I almost signed up for the challenge, but I really like my sleep lately. :)
I looked thru a bit of the POT Thread but I didn't see it, what is the cut off of half marathon times that would be a 1:55 10 miler? I am thinking of registering I have a 2:19 half but I can't see if that would work?

I registered for the challenge and input a 2:18:10 half. If you look at the POT equivalency cutoffs thread you'll see we should be within the C range of 2:08:22 to 2:22:00 under the WDW corrals. I just kind of went based on the first post since I figured if a 2:18 would work for Dopey it should work for the Springtime Challenge.

From what I can tell on the calculators I can find as a double checking method. We're within the sub 1:55 category. And I know at least for me I hit the 10 mile mark for my half around 1:45.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong. Admittedly with me being wheels POT isn't as big of a deal for me as it for everyone else. But it seems fairly confident that we're within the 1:55 sub.

I am in for the Ten Miler! I wish I could have also done the 10k because I love Hercules but this trip is already probably against my better judgement and taking off enough for the the 3 race challenge would make it even worse. But that is a Future me problem mostly. Flights seemed a bit high still, So I am hoping that with Southwest they will be able to go down. The discount package made it tempting I am staying right now at All star Movies. Is any one All star better than the other for races in your opinion?

My preference is Sports, because if buses end up sharing between the three, Sports is the first pickup (space on the bus) and the first drop off.

I’ve done both Sports and Movies for race weekends and preferred Sports, and I’m not sure if my reason makes sense but here it is: I found Sports to be more quiet at night, which is important for these weekends. Tried to get to sleep early in Movies for MW 2022 and had some trouble, decent amount of foot traffic walking by. Didn’t have the same problem at Sports last year at Springtime Surprise, and I don’t know if that’s just a coincidence or if more racers stay there so you get more peace and quiet. Had a much easier time with early wakeups. I’ll be there again in January so that’ll be another data point.

SpringTime Surprise 2023 at Movies and 2024 at Sports. Both are compact, both have great food court, both are fun themed, both have good bus services including the possibility to take a bus for Music and walk to the neighbouring resort where we stayed. I personally slightly preferred hanging out at the pool at Sports and walking on the field so that is where I would return if we go back for that weekend in 2025. Since you already choose Movies, I would recommend staying there. You can visit and use the amenities at all three All Stars.

I'm not actively tracking the 10 miler Springtime Surprise cutoffs (mostly because they said they were going to be changing the distances...), but it's going to be close to the same conversion seen on the HM table.

The 10 miler cutoff for the HM corrals is a 1:54 being equivalent to a 2:30 HM. RunDisney previously shared that specific information with me. So it's safe to assume the Springtime 1:55 10 miler corrals POT cutoff when using a HM is going to be pretty close to 2:30ish. The 2:19 is likely well within that. If you want solid confirmation, then email runDisney and they're pretty good about sharing whether a specific time falls within the POT guidelines for a specific weekend.

Thank you for clarifying! I think the most disappointing thing about this weekend really is that lack of changing of distances. Even if it went to a 15k, would make it more interesting!

Or at least make the courses a little different from other years/other weekends. With the exception of the one (shortened) 5K at Animal Kingdom, it's been the same basic thing over and over

We will be attending our first run Disney event next spring and was wondering how they determine what corral you start in? Is it random other then then competitive runners?

its based on the expected finish time you entered when you registered

Do we think the Brooks shirts will start with 2025’s first calender year race or the first race of the 2025-26 season and if you think it’s the former do you think Disney will send out an email if sizing differs

I feel like with the timing. Being right before W&D there probably planning for the first calendar race meaning Marathon Weekend. Because if I were Brooks I would want to be on top of the branding at the first jump in 2025 which would be that weekend.

I'm thinking DL Halloween or Wine and Dine 2025. Just the phrasing of the announcement and the way that they are doing the 2026 Club runDisney jackets makes me think that it will be at the start of the 2025-2026 race season.

I signed up a few weeks ago for the challenge, I am thinking of adding yoga as it’s still open is it worth it?

Ive done it twice - once at MK for princess and once at HS during SS. It was a cool experience, but it’s more gentle stretching than yoga. And you’re paying for the Disney experience, not a great yoga class. I think it was maybe 30-40 mins of yoga, but they usually have other surprises for you. I’m glad I did it, but it’s not something I add on every year.

My Personal 2024-25 runDisney Season Update

- 2024 Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend: Chills & Thrills Challenge and 5K
- 2025 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend: Fairy Tale Challenge
- 2025 Springtime Surprise Weekend: Springtime Surprise Challenge

Going into this season, I wanted to give myself a rest from Full Marathon training. I trained for the Dopey Challenge the last 3 Falls and it took a toll on my body. My personal favorite race weekend is Wine & Dine. However, it is very close to Halloween, so decided to give that race weekend a break too. Instead, I decided to take on the Disneyland's first Halloween themed weekend and do the entire Springtime Surprise Challenge. I ended up signing up for the Disney Princess Half Marathon too.

Finished the entire Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend last month. It was a well themed weekend. The 10K may have been one of the best themed races that I have done that was themed to the Haunted Mansion. The only downside to the entire weekend was that the average high was 105 degrees each day, which is a little unusual for that time of year in Anaheim.

Going into that weekend, I was suffering from plantar fasciitis fairly bad. Obviously, it got worse through the weekend. I ended up having to stop all exercise activity to recover for about a month, except specific stretches and strengthening exercises for the calves and foot. Through October, I have been doing long 2-3 mile walks to get back into the groove of things. I will finally do my first run on 10/30 to start training for Spring 2025 for both the Disney Princess and Springtime Surprise weekends!

Question for more experienced runners, especially those who have run the 10 mile … we’re staying at the Boardwalk and I understand how bus transportation works for me, I’ll be on a bus by 3:30 or so! But if my husband and son want to see me at the finish line, am I right that they can take one of the last resort transportation buses that leave closer to 5?

Of course I know we’ll run by the Boardwalk, but I understand that you generally can’t really spectate from there, at least based on what I’ve read …

Thanks!

Yea, they can take a later bus. I'm not sure, but I think they could even take one of the finisher buses, unless your expected finish time is too early for that.

I most recently ran SS in 2023, and we ran right down the Boardwalk between mile markers 2 and 3. Spectators were there, up close. (I recall getting a "power up" from a spectator. :) ) If they keep the same route, theoretically they should be able to see you there and still make it to the finish line.
