Spring trip 2010 (my first trip report)

We slept late this morning and didn't have any plans except to meet up with my DBF and his kids when they arrived at Pop later that day. I think everyone was up by 9:00 but none of us were in a hurry to do much. We ate breakfast at the Mara and made it to the pool by 11:00.

I love the pool at AKL! It's really beautiful.

DBF called around 1:00 to let me know they would be arriving at 5:00 or so. I rounded the boys up to get ready to go have lunch and we were on the bus headed to HS by 2:30.

I planned for us to eat at the Boardwalk Bakery for lunch and wanted to walk from HS.

See how happy the kids are to be walking? Everyone fought me on this and did a lot of complaining on the way over but they all loved the food at the bakery.

See? A happy face on the walk back to HS.

We got in line for a bus to Pop Century hoping to get there before Scott and the kids so we could greet them as they walked in (It's there first time!) But by the time the bus came he had called to say they were checking in :sad2: Oh Well.. When we got there they were already at the Hippy Dippy Pool.

From left, Ryan 11, Logan15, Scott, Madison 8, and Ian 12. And now our party consisted of 9 people so as you can imagine keeping everyone happy got pretty tough. [/COLOR]

Just found your trip report and I'm loving it! Can't wait to see how things work out trying to keep 9 people happy. We're going with another family for 10 days in August so I'm trying to plan for keeping 8 people happy and I know it will be tough!

When in August are you going? Just my DS and I are going back from the 16th to the 24th!

Hi Dsnygrl,
I just stumbled upon your trip report, and I'm in! I was at WDW in April as a "tour guide" for a party of 9, and boy was it ever a challenge to keep everyone happy. I'm looking forward to seeing how everything turned out for you. Because of the challenges, my family wasn't able to do all we wanted to, so we're returning in October. ;)
I'm so glad your DN's backpack was safely returned, -especially after hearing about the not so nice incident with the un-Disneylike folks who were rude to you when you offered directions so politely. :sad2: They should go visit "some other theme park", and leave Disney to nice people like us.;)

Looking forward to your next post! popcorn::

Thanks for reading!

When I last left you we were at Pop Century visiting with the Roberts crew. We hung out until dinner time then decided we wanted to go back to MK for the EMHs that were happening from 11pm-2am!

Here we are on the boat from the TTC

Look at those clouds... we were hoping the weather would cooperate.:scared:

It had started to rain lightly by the time we made it through the turnstiles so we made a beeline for the Emporium shops to wait for it to pass.
The boys were having fun trying on hats.

By this time the rain had started coming down really hard and the shops were getting crowded and we were done shopping but I didn't want to call it a night yet so we found a spot to camp out and I got us food from Casey's.

It was past 10:00 and I was determined to get some attractions done so we threw on the ponchos and headed out into the rain. It had let up a little but there was a constant drizzle the whole time we were there. We headed through the hub towards Tomorrowland.

I got this pretty shot of the castle on our way by.

The first thing we did was take a spin with Buzz Lightyear.

Then COP

I made a stop at The Lunching pad for a sweet cream cheese pretzel and we all shared it. DS wasn't too impressed with it, though. After our snack we went over to Fantasyland to get those rides done while it was so dead. We did them all but Small World then decided to end our night. It was almost 2 am by the time we were dried off and in bed. According to DBF the storms got really bad but we slept right through it!

Since we were out so late the night before I let the boys sleep and I got up to meet Scott and the kids at the Magic Kingdom. I made it through the bag check with plenty of time to catch the opening show. The Roberts clan was supposed to meet me by 8:30 but were running late and they just missed the countdown.:sad1: Bummer. I really wanted them to see it and this was their only scheduled morning at MK. Once they showed up we headed on to Main St. USA!

We made our way over to Adventureland with plans to ride Splash and Thunder Mountain before the crowds showed up but on the way by PoC we saw the Pirate Tutorial starting and stopped to watch.

Madison got picked to be part of the show!

DSCN0165.jpg

It was a really cute show and Madison was pretty smitten with Jack Sparrow afterward. We grabbed some fast passes for Splash and got in line for BTMRR which was only a 10 minute wait.

Once we finished on the wildest ride in the wilderness we stopped by Splash Mt even though our FP return wasn't for another 40 minutes and found the wait time to be only 15 minutes!

By now it was almost 10:00 and my boys were up and headed to MK to meet up with the rest of us. While we were waiting for them we rode PoC and Aladdin's Magic Carpets then walked through the Swiss Family Treehouse. DS, DN and DM made it to us just after we rode Splash the second time then we all headed over to Liberty Square For the Haunted Mansion. Another ride with no wait! :woohoo:

Up next lunch at MK and a very special dinner!

Everyone was hungry now so off to Pecos Bills for taco salads we went! I love the toppings bar here:lovestruc Once everyone was full and happy we made our way through liberty square to fantasyland so the kids could ride the teacups. Not a ride I partake in anymore:sick: then on to Tomorrowland to see how the line for Space Mountain was. Standby was 50 minutes but the fastpasses available were for 2:05 so we grabbed some and did the people mover and laugh floor (no line at either) instead.
It was around this time that DBF's oldest son got a call from a girl he goes to high school with letting him know that she was in the park with her best friend and wanted to meet up. We knew she was going to be there at the same time as us but had agreed that this was family time and Scott was supposed to let the girls know they could say hello and then we were going our separate ways. Well he did not follow through with that so now our party consisted of 11 people!:headache: And even worse this girl was trying to take control of the group and dictate where we should be going and when! It was pretty frustrating! So at this point most of us wanted to see the 3:00 parade but a few of the group weren't too pleased and were making it pretty clear so once the parade was done my half of the group decided to head back to AKL for a swim. Scott and I spoke briefly about the situation before we departed and he said he would make it clear to his son and the girls that tomorrow would be family only. :goodvibes so I was pleased with how most of the day went. They were leaving shortly after us because Madison and I had special dinner plans that evening! We hung out at the pool at AKL for about an hour but had to be back at MK by 7:00 so Madi and I could make it for our 7:45 dinner ADR at 1900 Park Fare! I was very excited for this dinner. I could never get DS to agree to eating there and I knew Madi would really appreciate it! We arrived back at MK a little before 7 and DS, DN and DM went in to eat at Cosmic Rays. DBF and his crew showed up about 10 minutes later and Madison and I headed off to the monorail for our dinner with Prince Charming! We got to GF about 20 minutes early and they wouldn't let us check in yet so we wandered around the shops and lobby for a bit. I had never been in the GF and I must admit I really have no desire to stay there! Is that weird? I just don't like the theme or decor of the resort. It's just not my cup of tea. But at any rate our dinner at 1900 PF was good and the characters were great! Especially the step sisters:rotfl: They were a hoot! So dinner was finished I wanted to make it to Main St for Spectromagic but by the time we got there it was so packed we decided to fight our way to Tomorrowland and do some rides instead. I called DBF and DM and told them to meet us in front of Space Mountain. Scott and the kids were coming from the front of the park and DM and the boys were walking over from frontierland so we had about 10 minutes to kill and Madi really wanted to do Stitch's great escape :confused3 so I took her. I haven't been on this in a long time and it was as bad as I remembered but she loved it so it was worth it I suppose. By now everyone had gathered so we hopped in line for one last ride Space Mountain before we called it a night. The wait time was posted at 25 minutes but it was more like 10 so we were done and out of there by just after 10:30.
