Currently, we (DH, DS6 and myself) have a ressie at ASMu Family Suite in May for about $2400 which includes the DDP.

Through a family discount, we found out we can stay at Spring Hill Suites at MV for $39 a night. :cool1: With this rate plus park tickets we would be under $1000 for 8 days/7 nights. I know we would have to be OOP for all meals (except breakfast).

At this point, part of me cannot justify spending the extra $900 or so (figuring we would spend about $600 on food - probably not, but being generous) just to stay on-site a Disney. Advise please!

Has anyone ever stayed here and if so, what can we expect? I'm a bit nervous as I have never stayed off-site before. :confused3

Thank you in advance for any help.

I have stayed there, but in a Studio room, so it did not have a full kitchen..just a fridge and a microwave. I imagine an ASM suite has a full kitchen?

However, it was a very nice room, and I do like staying there.

But for me, I would prefer to stay on site for my Disney Vacation.

This is a nice hotel in the complex of 2 other Marriott chains. There is a food court, and all amenities in the complex are available to any guest staying at one of the hotels. The location off of 535 and I-4 is great, and makes getting to Disney, as well as other restaurants, shopping, etc very easy. If you think it is going to be beneficial financially, do it. I think you will be happy with the resort.

Thank you both for your comments. I think I'm going to save the $900 and go with SpringHill. :)

Are you saving $900 with food included or are you subtracting the $600 from the $900?

For a $300 difference, I would stay onsite. The SH is nice. I thought their breakfast and coffee was very good but this was in Maryland.

We loved the Family Suite for the amenities at the resort. The activites for the kids were awesome. Plus you have the bus option if the family needs to split up for any reason. To give you a cost idea, we spent somewhere between $25 and $35 for a CS meal for a family of 4 (2 kids meals), or around $50-$60 for a basic TS meal.

However, if you have a car you can certainly handle staying offsite if you're close enough. We're considering it for a future trip, just not yet. We still want to stay onsite.

Saving $$$ is always a positive, so go with your gut feeling!

I have stayed there. I would stay at ANY of the Marriott Village hotels over a Disney Value any day.

Let's do a comparison

1. Free Breakfast. Disney No Springhill YES!
2. Interior corridors Disney No Springhill Yes
3. Transporation to parks. Both Have it, Disney's is better
4. Food Court. Eaten at both, neither of them are outstanding LOL!
5. Check in. Lines generally shorter at the Spring Hill Suites LOL!
6. Kitchette. both have (no you don't get a full kitchen at the Disney suites, just at the 1 Bedroom and up DVC villas)
7. Theme. OK Disney wins hands down.

Is theme worth $900???? That's a lot for "cute"

Yes, it is including food. So it is almost a $900 savings. :)

Thank you for the comparison. :thumbsup2 And we did have "cute" last time at the POP. :)

I know there are alot of kid activities, but after being at the parks, I think that's more than enough activity for my child. Plus last time, he couldn't wait to get back to the pool. We were at MK for about an hour and he said, "Okay, when is it time to go back to the room?" My DH and I couldn't belive it!

And at MV he can use all 3 pools :-)

Or you can take the money you are saving and go to a waterpark.

Or pay for one night at the Nick hotel and use the awesome pool there. (watch travelzoo for specials.)

And still come out "ahead".

Nice hotel to stay out, FANTASTIC price!!! I would jump on it.

Another plus to add to CarolA's list....

SHS: free coffee bar in the lobby 24 hours a day

Yes, we stayed at Springhill Suites twice during our trip. We haven't any problem, it was really great, rooms are clean, the staffs are friendly and serves great free breakfast in the morning. Also it is conveniently located near Disney.:thumbsup2

Hi! Don't mean to highjack your thread, but I am thinking about staying here in two weeks for my kids' spring break.

I have had it with the high prices at Disney resorts, and this sounds nice.

For those who have stayed there, how is parking? It seems like it's safe to me, with it being gated. Is driving around pretty easy?

Also, at breakfast, do they mind if you take food back to the room (like if the kids are sleeping in)?

Wow the Nick Hotel is a GREAT idea! :yay:

Thank you all for all of your input! It makes me feel so much better about our decision!

PS...I don't think you are "hijacking" my thread!
I'm glad someone else can take advantage of it.

Wow, that's an awesome deal. I stayed at a Springhill Suites in Columbus and it was very nice. I think they are a good chain. You definitely made the right decision. I think we are moving off site too as long as the price is right. If yours was a public code, do you mind telling me where I could find it?

Parking seemed fine. It's probably just as safe as Disney. (I have heard LOTS of car break in stories from there however) NEVER LEAVE VALUABLES in the car (and that includes the cool GPS system)

I generally take my stuff back to my room at the Marriott hotels and have never been questioned!

Thanks - just booked the Fairfield Inn actually - I liked the Family Suites - my kids will like the bunk beds.

I think the breakfast is more basic at the Fairfield, but we're not big breakfast eaters. Some cereal and toast is fine.

I got a good rate for all through Mousesavers - $129 a night for two nights, then $109 for the last 4. Includes free shuttle to Disney and $25 a day credit for food and stuff.
