Spring Direct Incentives 2/9-4/27

Thank you for that summary! It is really helpful.
I rattled off the list of potential eligible incentives and he only gave me incentives for VDH and he came back 0 incentives for a 250 pt contract at PVB, so I was a bit confused. I'm guessing it was a glitch? I asked that he call me.

Withholding the pricing charts feels like a lack of transparency. It's also a bit of a killjoy. Half the fun of the purchase is the strategizing. Seeing the discount on the next tier of points is what typically pushes me towards making a bigger contract purchase.

Seems really weird. DVC's own website shows the $1,000 Anniversary fee as well as developer credit of $14 pp for a 250-point purchase. I am very curious to hear your guide's explanation.

Is that what they sent you? Ive never even seen it drawn up like that

Yeah it's the new rules of how to present numbers. Feels very car salesman. I dont like it.

Yes, it's odd! For the VDH quote, the "cash incentives" were just a lump sum with no information. You have to guess which incentives were applied.
It's going to take a lot of back and forth to get this sale finalized as each quote must be individually generated. I feel bad that this is what the cast members need to do for each request.
I'm sure DVD has manufactured some sort of internal tracking around this new system, but it is off-putting to me, an existing member. I would imagine I'm not the only member that feels that way.
Again, too many mental gymnastics.

Also, while I am all for transparency adding dues to this new quoting system is for sure going to work against sales.

Didn't they used to have that as the last column on the charts? That said, I think it was really easy to ignore it as the last column because your eyes were drawn so much more to the incentive column.

And, seeing the points levels at which incentives increased is one thing that helped talk me into 300 points each time I purchased too. Seeing how much more that incentive was and that it didn't increase again until 500 points definitely helped sway me to go for more. Seems like this new system would not help with that either.

They did! I cant believe I never ever noticed it and I have looked at those sheets hundreds of times. So maybe it wont scare people off... or maybe the placement was so far off the right most ignored it like me? Maybe I didnt notice since it was after the financing payments.

100% this made many people buy more points than originally considering.

EXACTLY!!!!
In fact, I've been left feeling like I should just buy enough direct points to get a reasonable discount and to be able to beef up my weekday reservations at VDH on the 7 month mark and then purchase the remainder resale. This new process is not working in their favor. I'm sure there's some nifty reporting/tracking behind it, but it won't necessarily translate to a greater volume of points being sold.

I think we need a seperate thread for this, Sorry!

Hi juliebee!

Also, this new policy on not releasing a points chart really has my panties in a bunch!! Why does DVD make it hard to give them money?

Congratulations on your VDH purchase and your artwork!

Thank you for the info on VDH. I feel like we have the perfect amount of VDH points for our use case. We really want to add onto PVB to increase the size of our accommodations and we want them direct, so we can occasionally use them to add a weekday onto our VDH stays at the 7 month booking window.

Hi! I actually purchased at the Poly. VDH was one I considered though. I wasn't sure where you were interested, so mentioned the VDH artwork incentive.

I agree, the new "quote" for points is really frustrating. I don't like that it's not broken down by what you are saving with each incentive. The guide didn't tell me about each incentive and then acted all put out when I told him I heard there was a Visa incentive as well. It was like I had to ask for each promo. The process before was much more transparent. As mentioned before, specifically ask for each incentive. If you have Disney+, you are eligible to have a free D23 gold membership, which will save you $500.

Is that what they sent you? Ive never even seen it drawn up like that
That is what my guide also sent me when I got a new quote due to this set of incentives. It's awful. Disney, if you read this--- NOBODY likes this.

Thank you! I just redeemed my free membership!

This. I would like to congratulate DVC on officially making resale more attractive to me than buying direct and never making me want to buy direct again 👏 👏

What an absolute disaster it has been, but the end of the tunnel is in less than 3 weeks I hope! As of today, I have no idea if I even have a guide or who that may be if I have any questions before closing.

I cant count how many times I have been told one thing, for someone else to turn it into another, but my best approach from here on out is to avoid contact until closing and i think that will get me through it with little to no issue from here on out. (I hope)

too late now. but you should change your guide!!!

I agree about withholding the charts. It feels icky to me. Especially when not all guides seem to know what all incentives are available. If you are not attached to this guide emotionally I would highly recommend seeking out a new more knowledgeable guide. There are many recommendations here in the boards.
My best advice to anyone is to get a seasoned guide with some years of experience under their belt. Do not feel bad switching. If i ever buy direct in the future (highly doubtful) I will ask a potential future guide how long theyve been with the company and some other questions to see how knowledgeable they are.

I will give our guide the benefit of the doubt and will assume he is still figuring out how this new "system" works? Overall, he's been great to work with.

However, I do know that this new process is making me consider reducing this direct purchase down to 150 and purchasing a 100 pt poly resale. I only need a few extra direct points to use at VDH.
Giving them the benefit of the doubt to figure their stuff out and trust what a guide says verbally almost led to me rescinding and weeks of headache which completely turned me off to dvc direct. I am just now recovering and slowly coming back on the boards 🤣 I suggest requesting for things to be in writing when told things verbally and not moving forward until they give that to you. I had to fight hard to get all the things I was promised and nothing more because I trusted verbal promises.

I think they are supposed to be purposely not knowledgeable… their job is to sell, not to educate…

And many of the pricing strategies under the past few years at disney writ large emphasize that point…

I have nothing to compare to with buying direct, but i will say at least with resale i knew what I was getting without having to calculate things and correct a guide over and over with what I should be getting
