Need some help in finding a nice, budget ($2K or less) condo for spring break. Looking to be on the gulf side in Florida. We always hit the St. Pete Beach/Tampa Bay area but are up to trying new things. Ok, really I waited too long to book and now much of where we wanted to stay is booked. We are driving from Indiana so I wouldn't want to go much further south than Ft. Myers. Any ideas?

Maybe Sanibel or Manasota Key/Englewood Beach? During the Housing Panic a lot of hotels were torn down in the Englewood area so condos could be built. There are too many, of course, so Google Englewood Beach and see what happens. It's a nice area that has plenty of rentals, a nice beach, and a good selection of restaurants.

Moving over to the Community Board to get you some help from the members there.

The Destin area is very pretty and usually quite reasonable too. My friend's parents own a condo there and every year the vacation pictures are prettier than the last!

There are some great places on the gulf side on this site.
We've rented from people on vrbo many times with no problems.
They are usually cheaper, because you're dealing with the owner directly. Now is the time to be looking for spring break. Good luck!
