Yeah, they say the position is usually only for hospitality majors but yet she was able to get it too so maybe it will work out for us! And I would love to work at the grand Floridian, contemp, or poly"...I love all those but would also like the AK lodge....any of the deluxe resorts, really. And I just googled it, how fancy! We have a fresh market here, a little similar but nice. That's a great opportunity! In the long run I want to focus on catering,conventions, and events

I am currently in hotel & restaurant management and plan to either work in a hotel or something in the future but right now don't have much experience in hotels other the classes, i would love poly or grand Floridian also beach club, do beautiful

Yeah, I have experience ce in guest services and stuff' but not in the hotel so hopefully I can get my foot in the door and stick with the catering/events within hotels. And I have never even seen the boardwalk in person...I need to add that to my list of "must see Disney" lol

I'm graduating from the University of West Florida, out of Pensacola, which is my hometown so it was really convenient! Lol And yeah, I have a good friend out there doing the program right now, I'm skyping with him later so I can get a good idea about how everything goes firsthand...he said the best part of advantage is that you do get an "advantage" with placement and jobs over those that just go a semester

How hard is it to get accepted? I just had my phone interview for the college program 2 days ago and I'm still nervous. I tried to smile and sound enthusiastic during the interview but nerves got in the way. Does anybody think this will hurt my chances? I'm a graduating senior so this is my last chance to get in.

I have a friend doing the program right now and he didn't find out until two weeks after his phone interview! Don't be nervous

He's doing main entrance operations. He gets to be the speaker person on the parking trams and is in the ticket sales booth right outside MK gates, he says he gets a ton of guest interaction and loves it too! Lol

will you be staying on-property while you're there dawn?

I am super excited. It's barely a month now until I'm there!
I will be staying on property. On this spring trip, I've bought my brother's DVC points and will be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in the Jambo House. We wont' have a savanna view, but that's ok with me, it will still be great just to stay there I think.

In October I'll be staying at Coronado Springs. I stayed there once before and it is crazy gorgeous there.

and yes, hopefully october will be a month of happy news for everyone! how wonderful would it be to find out that you've been accepted while your ON a disney vacation?!?

Exactly! How fun to know, as you're riding rides and soaking up the atmosphere, that you'll be back soon, and for 5 months!

You don't get to pick your arrival date, and it is generally a Monday. However, for spring 2014, there was a Wednesday arrival date which everyone said was weird.

Does anyone know what the character performer audition dates were for the Spring 2014 program? I'm trying to plan a vacation for this coming fall and I don't want to risk being out of town when I need to be at an audition.
