Spring 2008 PI

I applied for several as well. Entertainment Management, Ticket Sales, and Casting. I would be thrilled to do any of them. Had my interview about a month ago. They told me the same things as they told you. That it could be months before I hear anything. That is so hard for me. I have no patience. I hope I at least get to the next step by October. I would assume by Thanksgiving you should already know because you should be notified by November. As far as the application goes...I hear you guys saying you mailed it in. Perhaps I am confused. I did an application on the disney job site, I wonder if that is perhaps the same thing.

There is actually a paper application that you must fill out online and submit via mail to them...that is, if you make it to the point where they forward on your application to hiring departments...

Amazing news! I've been recommended for a second interview. :yay: Now, the waiting game begins!

Hopefully, the boards will keep me sane.

BTW, does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay while on the PI? I've read that Northbridge is really far away from Disney, so I'm looking for something closer but that won't break my bank. Any feedback is very much appreciated.

P.S. It's so cool that my 100th post contains such good news! :cool1:

It depends on how much money you plan on spending for rent. Mirabella is in World Gateway, it's literally a 3 minute drive from Walt Disney World property. It's gorgeous, I have a bunch of friends who live there.

Parc Vue and Alexandria are also really nice and close to property, though they're on the other side by the back of MK...turn left on the road off 535 like you're going to Ale House and keep going.

Sabal Palm is really close too, it's across 535 from Vista Way and Walgreens...but it's an older complex.

I'm not sure if these places do 6 month leases though, they're MUCH closer than Northbridge, which is all the way by Millenia.

I'm currently looking at a complex in World Gateway and I've had conversations with the leasing manager. Did most of your friends get apartments together? I'll probably be coming into the PI by myself unless I meet some potential roomies (hint, hint), although I don't mind getting a place all to myself. If I do that, I'll be looking at price for sure!

Yeah, everyone I know has apartments together, actually my friends take up 3 condos, cause a bunch of them wound up living together after the college program.

Try myspace and facebook groups for potential roomies. I would def suggest living out of Northbridge.

IF I get an internship, I am thinking about moving out towards the Hunters Creek area. It is about 15 minutes from Disney off the 417, which is a toll road that goes right into Disney. It is a little more expensive but the area is a lot nicer IMHO. I personally do not really want to live too close to Disney as it tends to be a little touristy to me. Northbridge is far too and I have not heard too good of things about it (and management interns are not allowed to live there) and there is sometimes traffic on I-4 which can be a pain. I have a friend who lives out in Hunter's Creek right now and she has a 7-month lease so thats what I will be looking at. I have lived in Florida for over 20 years and currently live about 10 minutes from Disney in on campus housing, but will be graduating in December and will have to move out. I am very familiar with the entire Central Florida area so if anyone has any questions just let me know! Melissa

I am hoping to live in Celebration. It's so close to Disney, and a favorite spot of my parents, so they'd be comfortable with me staying there. Rent for condos is definitely pricey, but you can find garage apartments for a decent monthly rate--some are furnished and include all utilities!

Anybody heard back and gotten their second interview? I wish there was a way to track if my paper app. got down to Florida... Oh well, don't ya'll just love the waiting game?

Oh, and since it's very possible (think positively!) that we may meet each other in a few months, feel free to add me on MySpace or Facebook (link in my sig.).

I did my second interview last night, so I guess now I have to play the waiting game for awhile.

Celebrations nice, but it's incredibly pricey for what you get. I had one friend who rented there...it's fairly steep. My family looked into getting a vacation home there, but when they found out that the prices of homes were as much as the New York metropolitan area in central Florida (where land and property value are MUCH cheaper) they opted for DVC instead. I'm not complaining though, now we own a piece of the magic ;) lol

I applied for PI September 7th and did my first interview September 12th. I just got an email today saying that I "have been chosen to move on in the hiring process." I wasn't expecting this email, does this mean I am going to hear about a second interview soon?

Thanks!

I just got that e-mail too! I'm hoping it means they received my paper app. and are forwarding my application packet to the departments I applied to. Any other possibilities?

I applied for two PI's: Creative Assistant and Assistant Character Artist. I just had my first interview on Thursday and I was put through for the next interview!!! I hope it doesn't take long, but she said that they can call anytime. I am wondering how many people they accept for these internships?? Oh well, let the waiting begin...at least I'm not alone!!

Two weeks ago I applied for the Cast Deployment Internship and the College & International Program Oprtation Internship, and last week I also applied for the Food and Beverage Management internship. I have yet to hear anything though, not even for a first interview. Is that a bad sign?

I applied back in August and didn't get my first interview until a month later. I wouldn't worry yet! I do have a question for those that mailed in an application. I received an email telling me to fill out an application, but there weren't any instructions telling me to send it in. Those that mailed an app, did it tell you to mail it in??? All the email said was to fill this out and "bring it with me" and on my online profile it still has it listed as a Task to Complete. Anybody know??

I guess I'm just worried cuz it's so close to the end of them taking applicants. Is not having a cover letter going to hinder my resume? =\ I don't have one. I know I could always type one up for all three of the positions, but I don't really know where to start. I don't really even think my resume is that great though.. ugh. I'm so paranoid right now that I won't even get called for my first interview.

Yeah, thats what happened with me. I was never told to mail something in. It just told me to fill out the application online and it is there in my profile on the disney job site.

So, you aren't alone...now thats not saying anything good...but there you go

The e-mail that I received explicitly told me to complete the application, print it out, and mail it in... It is my guess that because this isn't an across the board standard, it depends on which departments you apply to. Also, even though I've completed those steps, it's still in my "tasks to complete" section as well.

Don't worry about not hearing yet, they've still got a week until they stop taking apps., which means they'll be doing interviews for quite some time. I'm anxious to hear back from any three of the departments, but it's my understanding that some of them wait to receive all applications before they move forward with the second round. If that's the case, I've got a couple weeks to hear back.

As far as the cover letter goes, I didn't have one last year when I went through the process and got an offer--it probably doesn't hinder you too much. But if you want to boost your application, maybe you could write a general one about why you want to return to work at Disney...

I just got the email that said I have been chosen to move to the next step in the hiring process! I'm hoping I get a second interview soon, but I was told Disney Design Group does everything different since they look at portfolios. I am so not good at waiting!

Just wanted to say that today is the deadline to apply for a PI.

On October 1st, I received a phone call from Disney regarding the PIs that I applied to (I applied to the first one on September 24th and the last one on September 30th).

On October 3rd, I had my phone interview with Susan. She said that I should be hearing something back in 2-3 weeks (if things went well). If I don't hear anything by the first week of December, then they have made all their decisions.

Good luck to everybody! :)

Hey guys! This is my first post since two years ago when I was applying for the college program...the anticipation is still killer

I actually applied for three internship for the spring in Floral Events, Entertainment Management for the DEG, and Merchandise Events and I still haven't heard anything. I still keep in touch with my homeroom manager from the program and she told me certain departments don't even start interviewing until the deadline has passed. So hang in there to all of those who haven't heard anything yet! Congrats to all who have already started interviewing!
