So, my Disney wedding is next Thursday!!!

DF and I went last week to trial run spray tans because I am pretty much a ghost and turn into a lobster being out for even a few minutes in the sun. We went to Hollywood Tans and did the Mystic Tan. It came out pretty nice on me, I was surprised, except for my hands, feet, and elbows which are blotchy and uneven. So my sister referred me to a woman she knows who does spray tans, and I am going three days before the wedding.

Anyone have experience with being airbrushed? I am SOOO nervous it is going to be messed up. I don't want to look ridiculous on my wedding day. :-( I am also afraid it may rub off on the dress. Can anyone else share their experiences? THANKS! :thumbsup2

Your a brave woman to try it so close to the wedding, and be sure to avoid the sun since a spray tan is not en effective SPF, so you still could burn. It shouldn't rub off unless you sweat alot! Also, just be sure not to swim before the wedding since that fades it. You may still end up with orange ankles, elbows etc since that is where the spray can build up due to dry/thin skin in those spots.

Honestly, I would be realllllllly careful since with airbrushing you can end up orange and an orange bride is a bit tricky to photograph lol! Good Luck:goodvibes

Ive never been airbrushed, but I have done Mystic Tan many times, and it does come off on the inside of your clothes, especially white clothes. Its just on the inside though, so you wont see it, so if your planning on getting your dress cleaned afterwards, I wouldnt worry about it. I swear by Mystic Tans, they work so well and usually are super even if you follow the directions strictly, but I dont think I want to do it for my wedding. I just think wedding gowns are just too expensive to risk getting that stuff on, but Im sure youll have to clean it anyways, so it should be fine. Just my opinion though!

I wouldn't do it.

Take a picture of yourself in natural light and in the house and really try and objectively look at yourself. Spray tans always look orange to me. They are usually especially bad on people who have fair skin to begin with. If you turn into a lobster in the sun, then you never naturally tan anyway, so why would you want to look unnatural for your wedding? Again, just my opinion, but it's way too risky three days before your wedding. If it turns out bad, you are pretty much stuck with it.

All I will say is be CAREFUL! You will still burn if you are out in the sun! Make sure to load up on the SPF 30 sunscreen. Goodluck with your decision!

i second the whole try it first thing. it shouldn't leave streaks on your dress, however, i have white bath towels and whenever i have done mystic tans there will be a little bit of that coming off and it will build up on things, especially white things. if its just a touch of color you are after, really, i would experiment with applying the gradual home self tanners like every other morning to your face/neck/arms/back. even with a mystic tan, if you are set on it, i would try again and really put alot of lotion on your hands feet and ankles first. but like someone else said, if you dont tan, why try to look tan for the big day? maybe you could really just get out of doors a bit more - with sunscreen??

good luck!!

There is a place on Sand Lake Rd called Exclusive Tans or something like that. I have been a few times. It's a great. They do a really good job with airbrushing and they are really reasonably priced. They are in the plaza across from Seasons 52.

I agre with Sambycat, you might be best using the gradual tanners. I'm also fair and I often use them for a week or so before an event for a light, natural tan. Just be sure to exfoliate well first and use lots of moistuiser on drier patches and you should be fine.

I can't remember the bride's name, maybe she will pop on here, but there was a bride that did this last year and with the Florida heat and humidity, it did run and get on her dress, and not look good. I think I would pass if it were me.

I've never spray tanned or tanned any other way but the natural way (I'm dark, so it's not worth it to me!)

But, I do live in Orlando and know someone who does tanning and they'll come to you. I can't tell you about the results but I will tell you that I know the owner and if you call you can ask and find out what the deal is (will it get blotchy, etc). The best part is, they will come to you.

Here's the website:

Good luck!

I've done airbrush spray tans before, and I also have very fair, very Irish skin. If you want to do it, my recommendation is to get it done about 3-4 days before your wedding. It will rub off on your clothes the first day, for sure. I think it looks best and most natural after a few days, when it has faded and washed off a little bit.

Thanks for the advice, ladies! I'm really just looking for a glow, I always look washed out because I am super pale and I am very insecure because of it, I got made fun of my whole life and I hate how it makes me look in photos especially. Even with all that said, I don't mind being pale, but for my big day I don't want to look sickly white. I just wanted to see if any other brides had stories to put me at ease, and what I really wanted to know is if it got on anyone's dress. The Mystic has only run off a little bit on my white bra, and not even very noticeably. Like I said, I tried the mystic and it worked pretty well, my best day was like 3-4 days later. Which is why I am getting it done on Monday (I get married on Thursday)!

I did a spray/airbrush tan two days before a photo shoot/runway show a few years ago. I'm pretty tan anyways, but since it was a runway show with tons of lighting that can cause anyone to look washed out, I decided to do it anyway. I don't recall if it rubbed off on my clothes, but I was ORANGE!!!! I have used self tanners and have never turned orange, but this one was not sucessful. Thankfully, with all the lights, the photos and video turned out great, but then again, I had showered and scrubbed as much as I could the day before. I would not suggest doing the airbrush tan if you've never done it before. Different product lines yeild different results, so you won't know if you'll get the same result as you did with the Mystic Tan. JMHO, HTH.

I have never done a Mistic Tan or any of the spray on tans. Years ago I did do tanning beds but I try not to do that any more. Not sure if you are familar with the Bare Escentuals Line of cosmetics but they have a great self-tanner called Faux Tanner that looks really natural. I used this before our wedding in November 2008 just to give a hint of color.

Here is the link if you are interested. You get color as soon as you put it on and honestly I only use it once or twice over a few days. Definately put something on your hands before you use it and go very lightly over knees and elbows. I purchased some inexpensive rubber gloves at the Dollar Store (the kind used to put on hair color products - usually quite a few pairs per package). I just throw them away after.

I second the BE Faux Tan. It's amazing!

They also have a Faux Tan moisturizer that gradually builds color that's amazing! It's not the same as the Faux Tan self tanner, it takes a few days to build the color with this one, the self tanner is instant.

In 4 days I have the most beautiful tan legs! And it's a great lotion that locks in the moisture. http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/...centuals-Faux-Tan-Jumbo-Body-Moisturizer90-oz

I've bought it at Ulta before.

Thanks for the recommendation about the Faux Tan moisturizer. I love the BE line. I'll have to try the moisturizer next.

It keeps a natural tan for twice as long or if you just need some color it builds it so nicely that you will want to use it everyday just to keep the golden color it gives you.

It might be a little too late now... but Jergens has a body lotion that has a hint of self tanner in it. I use it sometimes, and I really like it. You just put it on like you would a normal lotion, and it gradually builds a tan over a week or two. I bet if you used it a few times a day it would work quicker. I like it because it's no where near as drastic as a self tanner but deff. gives you a glow. They also make it in skin firming, and other types as well.

Just wanted to give an update! My wedding was a little over a week ago and I did the spray tan - it turned out AMAZING! Completely natural looking and I got compliments from everyone who are used to seeing me super pale. It didn't run on my dress, I didn't look orange, it didn't streak, etc. I'm glad I didn't let anyone scare me out of it! :rotfl:

I am so glad that it all worked out in the end. Where did you go and what did you finally get?
