My daughter sprained her ankle today and it is in an air cast. We are due to go to WDW in 3 weeks Problem is I am already using and ECV and she has 2 boys, one still in a stroller! Now what do we do?

When I sprained my ankle a couple years ago, I didn't have an air cast. They just wrapped it tightly in athletic tape all around my entire foot and ankle and showed me how to rewrap it myself. The same thing happened to my DD recently. Her sprain was mild. She was able to walk w/o it taped in a week. Mine was pretty bad. I was sure it had to be broken. I couldn't walk at all w/o it taped tightly, but when it was wrapped I could hobble a little. After 2 wks it didn't hurt to walk at all w/ it wrapped, and by 3 wks I was pretty much back to normal. There's a good chance your daughter will be fine in 3 wks if it's "just" a sprained ankle (no fracture). Did the dr say how long she has to wear the air cast? Chances are she should be able to just have it wrapped in tape by then, and she should be able to push an umbrella stroller. It just depends on how bad a sprain. Good luck! :)

As BusyMom2Three said, she may be walking pretty well in 3 weeks if its just sprained, I did Disney a few years ago 2 weeks post sprain and was pushing my mothers w/c, it actually helped me by allowing me to take a little pressure off the injured leg and it made me feel more stable, I imagine pushing a stroller would be similar. The most important thing (coming from a nurse :) ) is that she does all she can in the next 3 weeks to give the ankle a rest, elevate is as often as she can esp at night and to ice it frequently. Doing the ice/elevation tricks at night on your trip will help alot too, it will make moving the next day possible ;)

Bulk up on vitamin C. Not only is it good for a cold but it helps heal cuts, sprains, & broken bones.

Thanks for the advice. She is still hurting but it is a little better. I have a cane and she is using that. We are still going as it is all paid for and will take it easy if we have to. I can walk some so I can let her ride the ECV a little.
